I've just made a surprise detour in my turn-of-the-century KELLY family research. Now I'm in Toledo, Ohio, from Fort Wayne, IN, and I haven't the faintest clue where to find some resources.

I'm particularly interested in locating a 1909 obit in Toledo, and figuring out which Catholic cemetery would be most likely burial place at that time. I've looked in all the usual places (including subscription newspaper archives) and not making much progress.

Any suggestions?

Beverly, you and I must be on the same wavelength. I've got a Facebook post slated for my blog in the next few days, too. Mind if I link to your list?

Saw your tweet last night about the news spot, Jen, and retweeted it in hopes that every little bit would help. Meant to also retweet it on our gen society's Twitter account this morning (to hit other time periods so more people would notice) but before I could do that, saw the GOOD NEWS!!!

So glad to hear it's been found. And now, you have a living descendant nearby to get you started on that other quest you mentioned!

Gini, thanks for the introduction to Nancy! Just noticed it via +WendyMathias' comment. Nancy, that's a helpful list of considerations for beginning bloggers. I've heard friends lament not having done those very things!

Chris Brogan is a font of information and great ideas. His three-word year's motif is so do-able. Looks like you've got a trio of inspiring guides ahead of you for 2014!
It's that time.  You see it everywhere, in various formats. Resolutions, goals, changing direction, adapting, thinking "outside the box," etc., etc., etc. Most small business owners, corporate employees and entrepreneurs go t...

You nailed it with the crux of the matter, Jen:
"Because without emotion there is no genealogy."

Well put!

We all could use a little soap box for our own personal rants. It's been fun--and informative--to eavesdrop on yours.

Thanks for the invite. I'm not currently working on Alabama, but need to keep an eye on things...I have some Booth(e) relatives who wandered that direction from TN in the early 1900s.

Story
Introduction
Since I've been interested in genealogy just about since I was born, I've wangled my way into being the unofficial family historian for every branch of our family trees that I've uncovered so far. I blog about that at
http://afamilytapestry.blogspot.com/

I have a love for learning and for reading, and claim a book collection double-stacked on every wall of our home, and then some. Sometimes I write about that, too.
