Hi Everyone!
We're going to start offering live online training through SafariBooksOnline.com at the end of this month.

The first course will be "Introduction to Modularity--the Java 9 Platform Module System (JPMS)."

I'll post more details here soon. The course will be based on the corresponding chapter of our books Java How to Program, 11/e (http://deitel.com/books/JHTP11) and Java 9 for Programmers (http://deitel.com/books/Java9FP).

The course is tentatively scheduled for May 30-31 from 12PM-3PM Eastern time each day and will be capped at 200 people.

This training is available to SafariBooksOnline.com subscribers at NO additional charge, but you must be a subscriber to register and participate. Enrollment likely will open next week.

We plan to offer additional courses on:
- Java 9's JShell for Interactive Java
- Programming in Java, C++, C#, C, Android app development and more.

If there's a specific topic you're interested in, please let us know in the comments.

Instructors using Visual C# How to Program, 6/e:
I am working to complete the instructor supplements for the print book by next week. Right now I have completed the PowerPoint slides through Chapter 7 (plus non-bullet slides for the rest of the book), the instructor code solutions through Chapter 9 and the Instructor solutions for the short answer questions through Chapter 10. If you need these (instructors only) please contact me directly and I'll have Pearson verify that you're an instructor, then send these to you directly.

Java How to Program, 10/e currently selling for just over $100 on Amazon (55% of its normal list price). http://amzn.to/2jb3Kw3

We just sent the 11th edition to publication, so it's possible this is a temporary price drop to clear inventory.

Happy Holidays everyone!

We're hard at work finishing up the new edition of Java How to Program, which will be published in February. Adding a new chapter on JShell, Java 9's Read-Eval-Print-Loop for discovery and experimentation.

We've also moved the Swing GUI content online and replaced it in the print book with JavaFX, enhanced our treatment of Lambdas and Streams, and more.

Because Java 9 won't be released until at least July, we'll be placing a Java 9 chapter on the book's companion website as well.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions!
Paul
