THE HUMAN BODY IS AN INFINITELY COMPLEX AND WHOLE SYSTEM
Āsana is an organic function of bones, muscles, blood, nerves, breath, mind, and self. It is a beautiful expression of the soul. The subtle aspects are revealed in your personal practice. The gross understanding of how your body moves in to and out of āsanas begins with an understanding of the human composition or anatomy. Various aspects of modern perspectives like muscles, bones, nerves, and arrhythmias are taught along with the traditional perspective of Āyurveda and the Doṣas, Vata, Pitha, and Kapha, in over 15 hours of lectures a month to get a basic understanding of these expansive subjects. #ShriKaliAshram #tantrayoga #yogainindia #Ayurveda #doṣa #anatomy #whole system

HOW TO DISSOLVE THE LIMITED I-CONSCIOUSNESS"?
“If we tell stories to ourselves we build illusion. We have to be honest to ourselves. This honesty dissolves the little “i.” From the dissolution of the little “i” comes the true expression of the self. You build your real self. By allowing all of life and being honest, that way you will become strong, that way you will become a yogi. If you block or stop any exchange (conditionings that manifest as ideas and mental constructs that are fictitious) you will not be free. If you allow true exchanges, you will experience life. It is important to address the true self, in yourself and others.”
- Bhagavan Shri Shanmukha

WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY GANESHA CHATURTHI
Every year we are invited into the villagers' homes to participate in the Ganesha Chaturthi festivities. Clay statues of Ganesha are elaborately decorated (flowers, lights, and fruits) and placed inside temporary structures known as mandapas (pandals) in the village houses. The priest, often from each village family, wrapped in a dhoti and uttariyam (shawl) then with the chanting of mantras invokes the presence of Ganesha into the statue. This ritual is called the Pranapratishhtha. After this, the ritual called Shhodashopachara (16 ways of paying tribute) follows. The offerings consist of coconut, jaggery (raw sugar cane), modaks (sweet dumplings), durva blades of grass (the grass specific to Ganesha) and red flowers. Ganesha is anointed with red unguent, typically made of kumkum and sandalwood paste. Ganesha is worshiped each morning and evening for the duration of the festival and elaborate drum rhythms can be heard each night until the end of the festival when Ganesha is carried by the villagers chanting the mantra "Ganapati bappa morya" to the ocean. This festival, according to Bhagavanji, honours Ganesha's return to the Cosmic dissolution, as we return Ganesha to the ocean. #ShriKaliAshram #tantrayoga #holidaysinindia #yogainindia #GaneshaChaturthi #Ganapati http://ow.ly/i/aXb8f http://ow.ly/i/aXaQP

KIRTAN (ALSO KNOWN AS SANKIRTAN OR TOTAL EULOGY)
A kirtan is a form of bhakti or devotional chant in the form of call-and-reply. Kirtan at Shri Kali Ashram is performed to elicit the higher emotions in you, as experiencing Oneness with the Divine. In the words of Krishna Das, "Chanting (Kirtan) is a part of the path of Devotional Yoga. When we see the beauty of our own being we are seeing the beauty of the Being that is the One of which we are all a part. And when we turn towards that One, love is the natural reaction of the heart."
Kirtan came to the US via the Hari Krishna movement. Kirtan is associated with the Vishnu school of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu of the 16th century known as the Gaudiya Math Sampradaya or school. Gaudiya refers to the Gauda region of West Bengal.
