Spiral of life

This seems to be the law of progress in everything we do; it moves along a spiral rather than a perpendicular; we seem to be actually going out of the way, and yet it turns out that we were really moving upward all the time.
Frances E. Willard

Series: Energy & Process
More can be found here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/oDyZX
or on my Website: http://www.heikomahr-photography.co

The abstract images in the "The Energy & Process" series all originated as digital photographs.
Many are digitally processed.
My work is all original, except by way of inspiration from abstract expressionist artists of the
1950s, such as Pollock, Rothko or of Cy Twombly, and others. As I work with the shifting (or varying) colors and fluctuating (or free) forms in these images,
I am reminded of the interaction between elements and energy. Color and form come alive in my
imagination and become a part of the ongoing process of life. Abstract images are my way of
showing how mundane things can be transformed into mystery; a mystery that calls each of us
to explore, discover and embrace in their own way. If you are interested to see more you can aquire my Book "From Energy and Impression"

Series: Streetlife Serenades:

I was living in the countryside in small village and town for most of my life.
So the buzz of the city, the never sleeping energy around still amazes me.
People in the city seem to life on a faster rhythm, with a faster pace.
The dense, often lound soundscape which halls throught the streets and boulevards seem driving people forward.
The lights and signs around them only seem playing the accords in the one big
streelife serenade playing on stage.
With my images I do want to document people and their relationships in our modern world which the city people explore more and more.

The end of the day

Series Celestials
----------------------------------------

More here: https://plus.google.com/collection/oDyZX
or on my website: http://www.heikomahr-photography.co/

The Celestial series are digitally transformed of images
of clouds, moon, sun and stars and their spatial relationships.

The forms still look familiar to our eyes and mundane.
But on a second look there is a mysterium, something our senses
seem not to be able to understand in the first moment
behind our reality.

Dancing with the light

Series: Sketches of Spring
-----------------------------------------------------------

Spring is a time
of abundance, where the new year
is feasting, a joy and delight around us
which we can feel and look forward to
all the last weeks of winter.

Within the Sketches of Spring series
I want to convey the joy and energy of life next to us
but also the evanescence and vulnerability of this beauty.

New Gallery online!!!

In the series Dance & Expression I explore
the fascinating world of how dancers have mastered their body control to express music.

Arms and legs, Head and feet, finger and toes..
All seem to be able to move independently , flow from one expression into
another and form a choreography, form the music some can not hear in an image.

Either if Contemporary dance with it's free choreography forms, classical ballet, flamenco or ballroom...
Dance photographg is a wonderfull thing to do..
I hope that all the expressions the danced stories and music does come alive through my images.

It so full of expressions , of danced stories and tales.

The spring arrives
all the snow is gone
your footsteps at my door

I don't know if there is really a haiku
inscribed in the stone,
but I can imagine that it would be one
and some can read this there..

Series: Structure & Clarity

Removing the original colors
from an image reveals forms and structures
and their relationships in a decluttered
clarity, which allows us new insights about the world
surrounding us.
