Today's Safety Tip Wednesday is all about planning.

Even if you do not plan to leave, think of where you could go. Think of how you might leave. Try doing things that get you out of the house - taking out the trash, walking the pet or going to the store.

Many of us are taking a moment to remember the events of 17 years ago.

Though we are recalling a terrible day, let's not forget to focus on hope. At CORA we're all about hope. No matter how dark the experience, there is always a light shining ahead. There is always hope.

Safety Tip Wednesday? Why yes, we have one right here.

It's important to know where you'll go if you need to escape. If possible, have a neighbor or friend who knows your situation and you can go to for help and shelter.

We're focusing on the children this Safety Tip Wednesday.

It may sound simple, but keeping a child safe in a domestic violence situation begins with talking - and listening - to them. Encourage them to talk about their feelings and be honest about the situation without frightening them. Reassure them that the violence is not their fault and that they are not responsible for adult behavior.

The Assistance League of San Mateo County stopped by today with armloads of "Baskets for Babies" that will be distributed to the mothers in CORA safe houses.

Wow! Our community must be the most supportive group of folks on the planet! http://ow.ly/i/HtFP0
