Shameless Promotion Time Again:
"Amelia was right. It’s OVER. We’re THRU. Lose my number. Good riddance. Be out of the apartment tomorrow."
Jasmine threw her phone across the room, sank down to the floor of the apartment she had moved into just days before, put her face in her hands, and cried. What kind of man would break up with his fiancée days before their wedding over text message?!
Their relationship always had been solely on Philip’s terms. Jasmine knew that now. Her friends had tried to tell her again and again for the last four years that he was no good for her, but Jasmine hadn’t believed it. She hadn’t wanted to believe it. God had told Philip that they were going to be married. So why was he insisting on disobeying God?
Looking at her wedding dress hanging on the closet door, she gave in to despair and wept.
After she was all cried out, Jasmine got up off the floor and collected the pieces of her phone. Sniffling, she prayed quickly that her phone would turn back on when she put it back together. The screen wasn’t cracked, at least.
Turning on the phone, she sighed deeply, thanked God Philip hadn’t already shut off her service, and made the hardest call of her life. Home.
