The Upper Crust Pizzeria came to my attention when I saw a guy lazily strolling up the middle of Charles Street eating a slice with one hand while balancing the open box in the other. Smiling people with these white pizza boxes became a recurring theme. That evening I asked a smiling woman where she got hers and headed "around the corner that way." The first thing I noticed inside was a big hand drawn menu board and community style dining table for about ten people. The woman behind the counter saw me studying the board and offered assistance. She was very friendly and helpful. When my order was ready the cook yelled my name and brought the Margherita style slices to the table (he was friendly too). One was pepperoni and the other was the monthly special with spinach, sausage, and peppers. Both were excellent and huge. Either would have been plenty. Someone in there had a shirt that said "The People, The Pizza, The Passion," and it looks like they're living the dream. People were friendly, pizza was good, and the passion showed. The Price was real low too.

Shifty service, sky high prices. Bunglers and swindlers.

I placed an order to pick up two calzones and some slices, when I arrived, they had forgotten to make the calzones. Here's what should have happened: I should have received a sincere apology, some effort to fix the problem, and some nod to my inconvenience (a discount, a coupon, etc.). Here's what happened: The woman running the register looked for the calzones, couldn't find them, so lied to me and said they were in the oven. One of the chefs started making them, put them in the oven, and gave them to me half-cooked. Although I had paid when I arrived (and tipped), I got nothing for my inconvenience. When I got home, I had to finish cooking the calzones, and the slices were desiccated. I'm done.

Pretty good New York style, by-the-slice pizza. They have some really unique and interesting sounding toppings, but unfortunately very few are available by the slice - when I went, it was only cheese, pepperoni, the monthly special (taco pizza), and a daily selection. The place is also super small, with one big table.

Smaller branch set up for takeout and delivery. There is one large table (14 seats) available.

Cheap eats. Can't beat the price per slice! It is a pretty small restaurant and the weekly flavors are really good, with varied toppings and themes. When I went it was something to do with football. They have TVs so you can watch sports if you wish. It was a nice place to stop over for lunch.
