Best way to avoid summer heat I've found is to spend a few days on whitewater. The air may swelter, but the water is cool. Here's one trip that will douse the summer heat blues.

Introduction

Writer, photographer and broadcast commentator Crai S Bower contributes scores of articles annually to more than 25 publications and online outlets including National Geographic Traveler, Journey, American Way magazines and T+L Digital. He has blogged regularly for MSN Travel, Huffington Post and SkiResorts.com, the latter having been selected as a finalist for “Best Canadian Blog” by the CTC in consecutive years. 

Crai appears regularly on NPR, the American Forces Network and “Rick Steves’ Travel.” His photography has appeared in dozens of publications including The Toronto Star, Elite Traveler and Interval World. Crai co-wrote the 2010 edition of Fodor’s “Vancouver-Victoria” and is profiled in “Seattle 100: Portrait of a City – Voices that Matter.”

Crai frequently speaks throughout North America at travel-related events including Canada Media Marketplace, the Society of Professional Journalists Annual Conference and the Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX). A past Northern Lights Award Winner, he received a 2013 "Excellence in Journalism" award from the Society of Professional Journalists, his 5th national writing accolade in as many years.
