Story
Introduction
I studied bioinformatics in Munich. During my studies I performed research on microRNAs at the New York University and at the Roche Palo Alto research facility. In 2008 I wrote my diploma thesis at the Department of Genome-Oriented Bioinformatics of the Technical University of Munich, entitled ,Reduced RNAi off-target effects by artificially designed siRNAs in mammals‘.

From January 2009 to May 2013 I did my PhD at the University of Leipzig. Here, I analyzed high-throughput sequencing data and designed software tools to simplify these analyzing processes. I was continuously involved in projects from national and international consortia, like the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) or the Leipzig Research Centre for Civilization Diseases (LIFE). I received my Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) from University Leipzig in April 2013, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter F. Stadler. My thesis titled 'High-throughput sequencing and small non-coding RNAs' was honored with 'magna cum laude'.

From August 2011 to Juli 2013 I was an elected member of the Scientific Planning Committee of LIFE and in 2012 I co-founded ecSeq Bioinformatics, a solution provider for high-throughput sequencing analysis.
