Joachim Gauck makes one of his final public appearances as German Federal President with the Philharmoniker – as the host of a benefit concert in aid of UNICEF. Two world stars have been invited: Zubin Mehta and Pinchas Zukerman. The programme includes Tchaikovsky’s late Romantic Fifth Symphony and Elgar’s Violin Concerto.
