What are the biggest DIY mistakes made in the bathroom? We're finding out from DIY Network's 'I Hate My Bath' host Jeff Devlin.

Where there's water and electricity running through the walls, there's many opportunities for mistakes to happen in a DIY project. Added to it, the bathroom is one of the busiest rooms in any home and sometimes it can be the smallest, too. It's a recipe for things to go wrong.

From finished and fixtures to plumbing and ventilation, we're racing through the biggest mistakes that can thwart any DIYer's progress and confidence.

Our guest Jeff Devlin has seen it all, and sharing what he's learned with us during a live Google On-Air chat.

As host of DIY Network's I Hate My Bath series, Jeff gives homeowners hope with economical yet clever bathroom design ideas using amazing new products and cool tools. Forget about it costing almost a year's salary to renovate your bathroom. I Hate My Bath tears up real homeowners' lives and their bathrooms, showcasing along the way impactful alternatives that don't require loans, demolition or divorce.

Jeff Devlin proves that home renovation can be enjoyable and not intimidating. As a Licensed Contractor and Host of 4 successful Television Shows, his fun and down to earth approach takes both viewers and clients on an empowering journey and before you know it, you’ve hung out with a really cool guy and tackled that daunting project you’ve put off for months! This self-proclaimed big ham is a carpentry nut and family man who can design and build anything.

Tune into DIY, HGTV and A&E to catch one of Jeff’s shows, follow him on Facebook, or hire his company Schoolhouse Woodworking to renovate your home! And Jeff wears tool belt suspenders, so he knows what he’s talking about.

Friends are confused when we talk about the trends of designers loving of brass and animal print. We're talking with design expert Jennifer Bertrand about how to do the trend right, so our spaces don't end up looking like an episode of 'Dallas' from the 80s.

Our guest Jennifer also has appeared on 'Paint-Over' that showcased her speciality of decorative painting, and 'HGTV Showdown,' which was an intense duel where HGTV designers battled in head-to-head competitions.

Raised in a military family, Jennifer spent her childhood moving to different Air Force bases around the world. She says her passion for design began when she saw her mother "magically" transform their modest surroundings into an elegant environment each time they moved. The years she spent living abroad further shaped her love of design, offering her inspiration throughout Europe, from decorative grand palaces to rustic outdoor antique markets. After teaching art in elementary schools in Italy and Kansas, Jennifer, along with her English husband, Chris, now own a design business in Olathe, Kansas.

Find out more about Jennifer and her design projects at BertrandDesigns.com.

Join our conversation with Jennifer Bertrand on Thursday, July 10th at 1pmET, and get ready to share your questions and suggestions.

Can you really build a wood pallet deck? We're talking what you need to know before you get started with Hoosier Homemade's Liz and Doug.

Hoosier Homemade's Doug and Liz Latham built this wood pallet deck for their side yard. We're finding out what they learned along the way.
Building with wood pallets to create a deck can seem like a time-saver or a headache. And we're betting that's it's a little bit of both. Which is why we're talking with Liz and Doug from Hoosier Homemade who recently built a wood pallet deck for their side yard.

What kind of site prep do you need to do? What about footings? What about the openings between the boards? And how do you secure all of those pallets together?

Yes, we have a lot of questions about building a wood pallet deck.

"Building with Wood Pallets are all the rage, and I love how cool and rustic they are, so I was excited about the idea. One problem though, Wood Pallets are often times too rough looking with broken pieces and the slats are too far apart. He [my husband] assured me that he knew of a place that sold Wood Pallets and they weren’t all built with large openings." -- Liz from Hoosier Homemade

Liz and her husband Doug strive to help you Be Heroes to your Family through easy DIY projects, creative crafts and simple everyday projects, including hundreds of cupcake designs. Check out their website at HoosierHomemade.com.

Join our conversation and watch our hangout with Liz and Doug from Hooiser Homemade on Friday, July 11th at 1pmET, and get ready to share your questions and suggestions.
