May you all find many graces today as you weep for Our Blessed Lord and adore His Glorious Cross.

A contribution for The Wayfaring from Duke Divinity School friend Cameron Merrill on Alzheimer’s, dementia, and the Church as a community of memory.

"Because the church is able to gather, remember its story, and be shaped by the living God whose story it is, it is better able to imagine how to care for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia."

Aristotle, Aquinas, and Hauerwas would agree with the Chinese on this one.

A piece I wrote for The Wayfaring on Walker Percy, forgetfulness, and the discipline of memory.

"Unlike memory, which we sometimes posit as either a natural gift of the mind or a skill that can be actively enhanced through repetition or memory games, forgetfulness is always passive."

My wife works near here and is a frequent patron and is quite happy every time she comes. This was my first time: I enjoyed the coffee, the blueberry bread-pudding, and the casual, inviting atmosphere. I was also able get some work done by using the free WIFI with no problem or hassle.

A "third place," after home and work, and a lovely spot to enjoy a pint and a fish & chips.

In truth my fiance and I had a good experience with the older gentleman at Reliable. We were in to look at wedding bands. The gentleman showed us many options and was never pushy in any direction.

My fiance and I went in for a nice lunch on the sidewalk outside Centro. We ordered lunch and beers at the bar, which I thought was kinda fun, in truth. The two orders - Tortas and Tacos, both with grilled veggies - were prompt and very fresh, along with the guacamole we ordered as an appetizer. And the beers were cold. All this for about $27, which may be a little steep for lunch, but it was a nice day and a nice experience.

A simple, unpretentious breakfast and lunch place for western Raleigh. Quicker service than Big Ed's or Watkins, and just as good, if not better. Remember to bring cash.
