We recycle all the water bottles our guests bring to the inn. We have great double filtered well water and encourage guests to bring reusable drinking bottles and we will fill them for them. Just noticed our recycle bins are full so we will be off to the recycling center next week. #recycle   #plasticbottles

The soil on our property was in poor shape when we bought the property for our inn. Through amendments (leaves, rotted logs, etc) we have greatly improved soil fertility. Fungi helps the plants take up nutrients and water through their roots. #soilhealth

Fungal soil and why it's important. #soilhealth
Look at all those Fun Guys! Do not eat! Little brown mushrooms can be poisonous… and extremely whimsical. Wood chips make a good

We have used this technique at the inn to improve the soil of our raised garden beds and minimize need for watering during droughts. #gardeningtips

Can a garden go all summer with one watering? Check out this water saving technique. #gardeningtips   #watersavingtips
Can a garden go all summer with only one watering? Can you easily sustain plants from less arid zones? Can a simple, low tech trick transform your dirt into an active soil web that feeds plants, fights bad critters and prevents disease? These are some of the claims that made Brad Rowland try out small-scale Hugelkultur at home – but what is Hugelkultur?!

What a great use for recycling all of those plastic bottles. #recycled

Making homes out of plastic bottles for the homeless. I am not homeless and would love to build one also. Cheap, easy to keep cool/warm, fireproof, etc. #recycled   #greenhome

Great story and video about a restaurant that produces zero garbage or waste. They compost and recycle everything they can. At Cedar House Inn we also recycle and compost everything we can. The Earth and our gardens benefit.  #recycle   #composting   #greenliving

There are two benefits to picking an eco-friendly B&B. First, obviously, is that your stay is environmentally friendly. But second, you, your hosts, and the other guests have a common interest. But on top of these benefits, the Cedar House Inn's owners, Fred and Mary Beth, are dedicated to making your stay comfortable and pleasant. The food is top-notch and made with love. When we arrived there was fresh banana bread and homemade chai tea ready for us. Our breakfast the next day, shared with the other guests at a large table, was multi-course and delicious. Fred and Mary Beth were happy to show us around their elaborate garden, explaining how everything is complementary and sustainable. And the lodging was very comfortable. Looking forward to returning.

My wife and and I spent our anniversary in one of the Cedar House Yurts. It was a wonderful experience in truly peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed the friendship, hospitality, and wonderful food. Mary Beth even worked to accommodate my wife's difficult dietary constraints. It was wonderful to be able to take all we enjoy about living a natural lifestyle with us on vacation. I highly recommend them.

I love the Cedar House Inn and Yurts! My husband and I stay here every year for the 3/6 Gap ride in September. We look forward to coming here every year. The grounds are just lovely, the rooms are large yet cozy and each room has a private bath. A scrumptious organic breakfast is prepared for you each morning, and fresh cookies are baked every afternoon. And the Innkeepers are such wonderful, friendly people. I promise you will not regret staying at The Cedar House! It truly is a sanctuary snuggled in the North Georgia Mountains.

Highly recommend! We had a fantastic stay at Cedar House. From the moment we arrived, Fred & Mary Beth made us feel like family, and breakfast the next morning was amazing. We're definitely going to come back and try the Yurt!

My husband and I are interested in gardening and were very surprised to find this little eco friendly bed and breakfast about an hour away from where we live that lets you tour their permaculture garden. Although we decided to visit them mainly for their garden and expected nothing else from that weekend, we were totally impressed by the entire experience at Cedar Inn & Yurts. Mary Beth and her husband Fred Tanner greeted us with fresh homemade cookies! The room was neat and cozy with an AC (which we never needed to use even in peak summer!), and a mini refrigerator. In the evening, the hostess also baked some fresh banana muffins that were fabulous! The next morning, we were served delicious homemade breakfast cooked by Mary Beth herself! The breakfast included potato stir fry, waffles, blueberry quiche, patties, and a bowl of mixed fruits. We have never had a home cooked breakfast at a B&B before that was free of bread, cereals and oatmeal! After breakfast, Fred showed us around his permaculture garden and explained the concept behind his garden design. Overall, we loved our stay at Cedar Inn and Yurts and would love to go back! Mary Beth is a wonderful cook and we recommend visiting this B&B at least to taste her cooking! Also, this B&B is just about 5 minutes away from the Wolf Mountain Vineyards and Winery at Dahlonega, GA.

We had a lovely time at the Cedar House in Dahlonega. We only had the pleasure of spending one night there but the room and bed were very comfortable, and the hosts were lovely to talk to. Breakfast was a real treat and we enjoyed all the local ingredients and thought put into the meal. We would definitely stay again, should we find ourselves in the N.Georgia mountains!
Best place to purchase craft beer in Dahlonega. Large selection.

One of favorite places to eat. Indoors you can eat in a pub like atmosphere with low ceilings and dollar bills covering the ceiling. Great selection of beers that we like and very good food. You can also eat on the patio and bring you dog if you want. They also have free live music on weekends. Highly recommended!

We love their pizza. The crust is perfect and ingredients are great. We tend to get the "kitchen sink" which is loaded with everything. Great selection of craft beer which we also really like. Live music with no cover is also nice as well.

Wish we had a place like this closer to where we live! We love craft beer and this place has the largest selection we have ever seen. If they don't have it (would be surprised) they can get it for you.

If you love farm to table and fresh food then this place is the place to go. The menu features what they are growing at the farm, everything is seasonal fresh. The kitchen is open to the dining room so you can watch the preparation. When we had dinner there a staff member was bringing in a box of fresh produce from the farm that was on the menu. Highly recommended!
