Tobacco plant turned into a factory for etoposide
Etoposide(a podophyllotoxin) is a key cancer drug used in the treatment of lymphomas and hemophagocytic syndrome besides several malignancies. The key stumbling block in its production is the limited supply of raw materials from slow growing mayapple plants.
