November 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

November 2017 opens with Mercury changing signs from Libra to Scorpio on November 1, followed by Venus changing signs from Virgo to Libra on November 2. These two energetic planets will again advance one sign by late November. This theme of movement and activity continues through the month.

Mercury will move through Scorpio and then into Sagittarius on November 23. This brings Mercury, the force of mental acuity that helps us to exchange goods, services and ideas into the intuitive environment of Scorpio. Here we can learn to blend intuition with analytics. Then Mercury moves to join Saturn in Sagittarius, which will become an extended interaction due to a Mercury retrograde cycle in December.

Venus will be quite strong in Libra, joining Jupiter and Sun there, and ultimately moving into Scorpio on November 26. This period of Venus in Libra should be quite inspiring as it joins Jupiter in the eastern sky in the morning. All things Venus should be active: social life, relationships, raw creation. This will be the last month of visible Venus in the pre-dawn sky due to Venus approaching the Sun.

The full Moon of November 3 appears in the sign of Aries, opposite Sun, Venus and Jupiter in Libra. In the Hindu calendar, this is Kartik Purnima, the full Moon of the auspicious month of Kartik. The passionate energies of Venus and Mars underlie this full Moon, encouraging us to initiate, create and move forward.

Mars in Virgo will come into exchange of signs with Mercury as Mercury enters Mars’ sign of Scorpio on November 1. This also creates a basis for energetic focus on work projects, helping us keep the nose to the grindstone, seeking out resources and organizing our plans. Mars moves to Libra, joining Jupiter, on November 29.

The Sun moves to Scorpio on November 15, with the Moon and Venus close on his heels. The new Moon is at a sensitive point at the beginning degrees of Scorpio on November 18. Venus joins Sun in Scorpio on November 26, bringing Venus closer to the state of combustion and the transition of Venus from morning to evening star during December – January.

October 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

By the beginning of October, we see Venus joining Mars in Leo, conjoining exactly on October 5, which is also the day of a very strong full Moon in Pisces. Mercury not only conjoins the Sun and therefore aspects the Moon, but also is lord of the lunar mansion Revati, where this full Moon takes place. Revati lies at the end of the zodia and implies the ending/beginning point of a cycle.

Venus and Mars continue to move through the last degrees of Leo and move into Virgo on October 9 (Venus) and October 12 (Mars.) This passionate combination moving into Virgo may bring form to recently conceived ideas or projects. They remain in the same sign until Venus moves forward into Libra on November 2.

Mercury spends the first half of October very strongly placed in Virgo, granting us great energy for managing a diverse work load. October 13, Mercury joins Jupiter in Libra for a fast transit through Libra, conjoining Jupiter on October 18 and exiting to Scorpio November 1. The energy of Jupiter and Mercury together in Libra supports connection between teacher and student, the transmission of knowledge.

The Sun enters Libra on October 16 for one month, followed quickly by the Moon joining the Sun in the early degrees of Libra, lunar mansion Chitra, on October 19 for the new Moon. This puts four planets in Libra this day: Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Mercury. The Sun is least strong in this combination, succumbing to the rulership of Venus and Mercury over many of the planets in the sky at this time, which will promote the welfare of the group over that of the individual and encourage diplomacy over aggression.

With Saturn poised to move signs on October 25, a significant shift may be felt for many. These last couple of months of Saturn’s transit in Scorpio has focused energy heavily on the eclipse pair of August and the nodal axis shift, creating unexpected events that force change and detachment. Saturn’s last transit through Sagittarius occurred from December 16, 1987 – March 21, 1990. Events of that time may point to how this new transit of Saturn may give its effects.

September 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

After a very dynamic month of August which delivered a dramatic eclipse pair as well as returning Saturn to direct motion, the big event of September will be Jupiter changing signs on September 11, moving from Virgo into Libra. Jupiter will transit Libra until October 11, 2018. Jupiter’s auspicious effects should now be felt in the air signs Libra, Aquarius and Gemini for the next year.

Mars and Mercury will be very close throughout the month, traveling together through the sign of Leo. Leo was the site of the eclipse energy, which occurred while Mercury was also in the midst of a retrograde cycle. Mercury resumes direct motion on September 5. Mars and Mercury together could be quite energetic in pushing through projects that have already begun.

Mars entered Leo on August 27, creating a situation of mutual aspect between Mars in Leo and Saturn in Scorpio. With Mars wanting to power ahead and Saturn tending to put on the brakes, find the balance between going and staying or between courage and fear in order to keep things moving steadily and safely.

The Moon is waxing as the month begins, reaching full status on September 6 in the sign of Aquarius. This should be a powerful full Moon, as Rahu and Moon will be in exchange of signs. The Moon wanes as the month progresses, joining the Sun for new Moon on September 19 in the sign of Virgo.

Venus will be entering Leo on September 14, moving away from Rahu. Venus takes a few weeks to transit Leo, which could bring some relief to the site of the eclipses. Venus tends to build bridges and offer rejuvenation. We could see the importance of offering personal assistance to those in need.

The Sun will be moving through Virgo from September 16 – October 17, enjoying an exchange of signs with Mercury during the first part and joining Mercury, who moves into his own sign of Virgo on September 26, during the remainder. This could be a creative and productive time, especially in the fields of communications, entertainment and business transactions.

August 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

The month of August offers several notable planetary movements and events: partial lunar eclipse August 7, Mercury retrograde, total solar eclipse August 21, Rahu-Ketu axis changes signs, Saturn resumes direct motion and more.

Due to these notable movements, overall we may feel August to be a time of shifting and setbacks. While things are changing, it may be difficult to keep track of all details of what is going on, leaving us feeling disorganized or lost.

The eclipse pair coincides with the changing of signs of the nodal axis, which is the astronomical “body” that causes eclipses. This axis changes position about every 1.5 years and tends to heavily influence the houses and signs that the nodes transit in individual charts. The new positions are Rahu in Cancer and Ketu in Capricorn.

Mercury will be retrograde in Leo from August 13 – September 5, also in the vicinity of the eclipse-causing Rahu. This is always a time to be aware of overactivity which leads to frustration, especially so with the eclipse factor involved.

Saturn will resume direct motion after a four-month retrograde cycle on August 25. Saturn tends to cause obstruction and limitation and will also be aspecting the total solar eclipse in Leo. Saturn begins to feel a push coming from Mars when Mars moves into Leo on August 26 after a short spell of debility in Cancer.

The trick to navigating August 2017 will be a savvy combination of restraint, patience and surrender. Fall back on practices that promote clear thinking while we collectively and individually pirouette to our new set of circumstances.

July 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

July begins with the Sun mid-way through its transit in Gemini, joined by fiery Mars and energetic Mercury who is strong by occupation of his own sign. July 16 – August 16, Sun will be transiting through the Moon’s sign of Cancer, free of negative aspects but joined for the entire time by Mars, who is debilitated in Cancer. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, planets placed there are subject to the mental fluctuations indicated by the changing state of the Moon.

The Moon is waxing at the beginning of the July, becoming full in the sign of Sagittarius and the nakshatra of Purvashada on July 8 for the auspicious celebration of Guru Purnima, the holiday where teachers and gurus are honored.

The Moon then wanes, reaching its own sign of Cancer and joining the Sun/Mars combination for the new Moon in the nakshatra of Pushya on July 23. Both Saturn and Venus will bring a balanced energy into this new Moon cycle by way of the sign aspects coming from their placements in Scorpio and Taurus.

Mars in Cancer from July 10 – August 26 may bring about emotional frustration due to the power of Mars being forced into the nurturing environment of the Moon’s sign. This could be favorable for projects that require some disruption in the home such as renovations or repairs.

Mercury travels through Cancer from July 2 – 21 and moves into Leo for an extended stay from July 21 – September 26. Mercury’s talent for analysis and objective study can be applied to the mental and emotional realm while he transits through Cancer, acting as an objective balance to the fiery Mars and Sun.

Venus is strongly placed in its own sign of Taurus from June 29 – July 26, giving positive support to the planets moving through Cancer as well as encouraging creativity and relationship building. Venus can also be quite productive in Gemini from July 26 – August 20.

Great Jupiter holds his position, traveling steadily forward through the last ten degrees of Virgo in the next couple of months. Honor Jupiter by giving some attention to both teaching, learning and sharing knowledge.

June 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

Mercury is full speed ahead during June, transiting through both Taurus and Gemini from June 3 – July 2. This is energetic, speedy and enthusiastic Mercury moving through two signs also known for activity, creativity, movement and communication. Good time for activities relating to any of these departments.

The Moon is full on June 9 in the sign of Scorpio, opposite to the Sun in Taurus. The lords of Scorpio are currently in air signs and there are also influences of Mercury on this full Moon. This means an increased amount of idealistic mental activity. Make sure to have a notebook to record the inspired thoughts.

A short while after the moment of the full Moon, Jupiter resumes direct motion at 20º Virgo on June 9, ending a retrograde cycle that began February 5. Direct motion of Jupiter should bring a return to normalcy on expected results of Jupiter including positive growth and wise choices.

The Sun enters Gemini on June 14 for a one month transit. Immediately upon crossing into the sign of Gemini, Sun exactly opposes Saturn, currently retrograde in the early degrees of Sagittarius. This could bring up situations in which we consider the balance of self and selfless that makes for a healthy, integrated ego.

One day after the summer solstice on June 20, Saturn steps slowly backward through the battle ground that bridges the signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius. Saturn will return to Scorpio on June 21, resume direct motion on August 25 and depart Scorpio on October 25. This four month return to Scorpio may bring back themes of challenging yet transformational situations faced from November 2, 2014 – January 26, 2017, during Saturn’s main transit in Scorpio.

The Moon wanes after June 9, reaching the vulnerable state of new Moon on June 23 in the sign of Gemini, within the nakshatra Ardra. The Sun and Moon join both Mercury and Mars in this asterism, bringing diverse energies into the realm of Ardra, the arena of finding the strength and courage to face our deep fears.

Venus spends most of June in the sign of Aries, having crossed the bridge between Pisces and Aries on May 30. This could be a new cycle for Venus related matters such as relationship, creativity and social life. Combined with Mercury’s energetic push, this placement of Venus may encourage getting projects started. Venus then enters own sign of Taurus on June 29, for another month in a very stable, comfortable position.

May 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

The first note for May 2017 is that Mercury will be resuming direct motion on May 3 at 1º Aries, which brings the number of remaining retrograde planets to two for the remainder of May. Mercury will be moving forward through Aries through May, relatively free of pressure from other planets save an aspect from Rahu. This combination could be supportive of getting business deals, marketing plans and writing projects off of the ground.

Both the full Moon and new Moon this month are in the signs ruled by Venus, pulling Venus into a special role as host of these lunar events. This creates softness, compassion and attention to relationship as the basis of this month’s lunar highlights. The full Moon comes in Libra on May 10 and then wanes to join the Sun in Taurus for the new Moon on May 25.

The Sun moves from exaltation in Aries to a month-long transit in Taurus on May 14, further putting Venus in the position of support as ruler of Taurus. This time of year can be quite fertile in many regards.

Venus has been in exaltation in the sign of Pisces since January 27, including a retrograde spell that shifted Venus’ position from setting in the west after the Sun to rising in the east before the Sun. Newly situated as “morning star” Venus finally changes signs to Aries on May 30, which may propel us collectively toward a new round of personal paradigm changes when it comes to Venus-related subjects such as relationship and creative process.

Late May also shows Mars moving from Venus’ sign of Taurus into Mercury’s sign of Gemini. Both of these signs are energetic, but we may see our energy running more toward travel, study and movement as Mars works his way forward in the zodiac.

While we still see Saturn and Jupiter in retrograde state, asking us to focus on the signs of Sagittarius and Virgo where they are placed, the overall spread of planets during this month should be generally supportive.

April 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

April dawns with the Moon waxing after a Pisces new Moon on March 27, with both Jupiter and Venus still in opposition and moving in retrograde motion. The theme for April becomes this retrograde motion of the planets, which pulls their energy strongly into the signs which they are transiting and makes a call for deeper contemplation of their positions.

Saturn enters a four month retrograde cycle on April 5 that pulls him back into the sign of Scorpio on June 21, only to have him re-emerge in Sagittarius on October 25. This rewind of Saturn can take us frame-by-frame through the early degrees of Sagittarius and the late degrees of Scorpio which we have travelled with Shani over the past months. Great Shani urges serious, practical discipline when it comes to facing difficulties that life presents. Time for slow, deliberate review and reflection.

The slow moving Saturn is joined by fast moving Mercury in retrograde motion as Mercury begins a retrograde cycle in Aries on April 9 and resumes direct motion in Pisces on May 3. This puts four planets into retrograde motion until April 15, when Venus is the first to resume direct motion. Always a good idea to slow down and double check when Mercury is strong in retrograde motion.

The Moon becomes full in the sign of Virgo and the nakshatra Chitra on April 11, joining Jupiter. Waning through the next two weeks, Moon joins Sun for new Moon in Aries, in nakshatra Ashwini on April 26. The energy of the Moon each month increases as it waxes and decreases as it wanes.

Mars has been powerfully positioned in Aries, his own sign and will move on to Taurus from April 12 – May 26. Mars’ power can be channelled toward creative pursuits during this transit through Taurus, bringing strength, precision and perception. Also a great time for “working with the earth.”

Sun moves into exaltation sign Aries on April 13 for its steady, one-month transit through each sign. The Sun leads us toward truth and right action; this powerful yearly transit of the Sun is excellent for dispelling confusion!

March 2017 Astrology Forecast
by Kerry Shamblin

February 2017 produced an eclipse pair and by March 1, we see the waxing Moon joined with Mars as the two planets push from Pisces into Aries. This will leave Mars strongly placed in his own sign from March 1 – April 12, giving us focus and power to move forward. The aspect of Rahu from Leo onto Mars and Aries could agitate and amplify the fiery energy of Mars.

Countering the fire will be the strong position of Venus in Pisces which continues through May. On March 4, Venus begins a retrograde cycle that will shift Venus from preceding the Sun to following the Sun in the zodiac. By early April, this shift of Venus will be evident as we see Venus rising in the east before the Sun through the remainder of 2017.

Venus in exaltation in Pisces will be retrograde from March 4 – April 15, opposite Jupiter retrograde in Virgo. This opposition of two benefic planets known to bestow teaching, both in retrograde, should strongly produce opportunities for gaining and assimilating wisdom.

Mercury joins and bolsters this configuration by transiting Pisces from March 10-26, creating a strong exchange of signs with Jupiter. The Sun will be helpful and well situated as he also joins this channel from March 14 – April 14.

The full Moon of March comes on March 12, as Moon joins Rahu in Leo, but stays far enough away to avoid eclipse. Waning after that, the new Moon occurs in Pisces when the Moon joins Sun and Venus on March 27. Both the full and new Moons of this month draw us toward examining abundance and completion, focusing on lunar mansions that support life and its transitions.

At the end of January, we saw an important movement with Saturn moving signs from Scorpio to Sagittarius. With this, we see the shift of Saturn’s pressure and challenge now affecting the signs of Sagittarius, Aquarius, Gemini and Virgo through June, when Saturn retreats to Scorpio for a few months.

Mercury is moving quickly, transiting through Saturn’s two signs during this month: Capricorn from February 3 – 22 and Aquarius from February 22 – March 10. After enjoying a couple of months in exchange with Jupiter which could have inspired movement and growth with educational or financial pursuits, Mercury, ruling communication, networking, media and markets will be traversing Saturn’s territory, which could provide some pressure and frustration, but not for long.

February brings the first eclipse pair of 2017, a penumbral lunar eclipse during the full Moon of February 10 and an annular solar eclipse during the new Moon of February 26. Eclipses in general indicate an uneasy energy that brings forth shadow and obscurity which challenges transparent, normal functioning. While eclipses may bring us either chaos or blocking in our worldly pursuits, the deep introspection that they invite can lead toward deeper and broader understanding.

Jupiter remains in the sign of Virgo, the eternal teacher visiting the home of the practical student. From February 5 – June 9, Jupiter enters a retrograde phase that may reverse and/or amplify the growth and positivity that Jupiter engenders. This phase may be frustrating for those interested in fast, easy growth, but it may actually support proper action in the long run by bringing us toward a deeper analysis of what actually promotes growth.

Opposite Jupiter in Virgo, Venus has entered its sign of exaltation, Pisces, for a long transit through May. This is a positive transit that will manifest in different phases, with the common thread being Venus’ tendency toward relationship, connection and creation. During February, Venus is well disposed to inspire us toward acting with compassion and feeling rather than raw power or anger, as she is sharing Pisces with Mars, who loves to fight but turns out to be the weaker partner in this dance.

Jupiter and Venus occupying opposite signs for the next four months also bring forth themes of moving forward in an evolutionary way when it comes to education, transfer of knowledge and application of knowledge into positive growth and the creative process. These two planets are keen on recognizing the value of lessons, especially when they appear to be simply problems.
