CSE 820: Why is quantum computing hard? Here is a nice video from PHD TV that gets at how quantum computing is different and why it is hard.

Ars has a nice article on password cracking.  It describes a hands-on experiment using an actual encrypted password file and three skilled crackers.
For Ars, three crackers have at 16,000+ hashed passcodes—with 90 percent success.

Fascinating. I got schooled by this slow motion gif of how a dog drinks water. Good night everyone!

Forward Dental was one of the WORST experiences I have ever had at a dentist office. I arrived at my appointment on time, but their staff was late so I had to wait for 20 minutes. Once she did show up the procedure was fine and they actually did a good job. The biggest issue I have is that they told me repeatedly that a bunch of extra services they were selling me was covered 100% by my insurance. Sure enough, about a month later I get a bill for them: guess they were not covered. I called their office and they told me they would look into it and call me back. I never received a phone call back and figured everything was taken care of. That was until I get another bill three weeks later and a cute little letter telling me that I needed to pay them or they would go after my credit. I called their office again and talked with them and they told me once again they would look into it. Never got a call back, but this time I knew better and called them again, which they finally told me to "just pay the money because it wasn't a big deal". I ended up doing just that and now will not be doing any further business with them. STAY AWAY their front office is TERRIBLE.
