Baby Fox Kit

These cute little grey fox kits must be grown up now, but it sure was fun to watch them play in the grass next to the entrance of their den. I caught up with this par of kits (with mom watching them nearby) during golf one day. Have a wonderful week everyone!

Lightning Never Strikes Twice...

We got quite a show on one of our final nights in Prague last summer. It was windy and stormy, but didn't rain on us very much. When we saw lightning flashing up in the clouds, we found a good vantage point to see if it was possible to capture some above the castle.I got this one amazing shot and a hundred others with mostly nothing. Just goes to show that perseverance really does pay off. Hope you are all enjoying your week...

Stink Bird...

Mainly known as the Hoatzin or the Canje Pheasant, this crazy looking bird is found along rivers, lakes and mangroves of the Amazon basin in South America. They are very reluctant and awkward fliers for birds... We didn't get the best view of them, but were happy to get a glimpse of these strange beasts!

Tangled Web

Oh, what a tangled web we weave. I found an entire field of webs like this on a foggy morning just as the sun started to break through the clouds. What a sight!

Searching for Lunch...

This immature red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) was circling the area and made several attempts to catch a squirrel or two. He wasn't successful while I had a chance to watch, but looked to be quite experienced and I'm sure he didn't go hungry. Enjoy your week everyone!

Diademed Sifaka

This beauty is from Andasibe-Mantadia National Park in Eastern #Madagascar. We hung out with a group of these lemurs for a couple of hours. They are amazing to watch as they jump from tree to tree in the forest, sometimes up to 30 feet or 9 meters away! Unfortunately, these animals are listed as Critically Endangered.

Lonely Church

We found this lonely little church with beautiful views during our drive around the Lofoton Islands in Norway. It had been cloudy and rainy all day, but we got a break in the clouds just in time for sunset. Such an amazing area, hope to go back and spend more time there one day!

North American River Otter

These guys are so much fun to watch, they swim quite fast and fabulous acrobatic moves underwater. One fun fact, they are part of the weasel family - cool right? From a visit to the SF Zoo a couple of years ago. Have a wonderful week everyone!

Coming in for a landing...

I went to visit a Bald Eagle nest here in the bay area a couple of weeks ago. These amazing birds have set up their nest in this huge pine tree right next to an elementary school! Hard to say how they endure the noise when all of those small children are outside playing... Anyway, I hope to go back and visit a couple more times in the next few weeks before the chicks fledge and they move on.
