An important point to remember is that, even if speed is weighted as heavily on mobile (again, assuming that's accurate) it should be emphasized from a use perspective. If one's potential client comes to a site on a mobile phone, and gets frustrated because the site takes forever to load and then leaves the page without waiting, is it really fair to say that speed doesn't matter?
My fear is that many people will make their pages “mobile-friendly” and actually tank their engagement with poor experiences..
