The reality is that the process of submitting consumer proposals to resolve your debts can be complicated, and can involve almost as much work as filing for Canadian bankruptcy can. With that in mind, it’s important that your Calgary bankruptcy trustee carefully considers the pros and cons of the consumer proposal approach.

Filing for bankruptcy in Alberta can be a personal and sensitive issue, and one that many of our clients would prefer to keep from others.

Here at Hudson, we sometimes talk to new clients who have either met with a debt counselor, or are considering it. Or, in other cases, we hear from people who have been referred to us after they’ve met with a debt counselor in the past.

Regardless of how they meet us, they may not fully understand the difference between a Calgary bankruptcy advisor and a debt counselor. #Bankruptcy #YYC

The easy answer is that a Calgary bankruptcy trustee can help you even if you don’t file for bankruptcy, or if you just need to consider a number of different options.

You wouldn’t meet with an architect if you hadn’t decided to build a new house yet, so why come to our Calgary offices if you aren’t sure what the next step is in your debt resolution plan?

One of the things that our new Calgary clients are often surprised to learn about the process of filing for bankruptcy in Canada is that a small number of debt and credit counseling sessions are mandated by the government.

But why is this so?

One thing our Calgary bankruptcy trustees can say will definitely be an important write-off, however: the stress you feel about your current financial situation.
