looking at the two comments below, now I realize I'm not the only one who gets bad experience here. I showed up this morning at 8:03 to take the 8:00 am yoga class-- and to my surprise and probably your surprise too---I was locked out of the studio! there's absolutely nobody answering the door after I kept ringing the door bell for around 10 min. Yes I'm late I'm sorry for that--but should I be locked out of the studio just because I'm 3 min late??? you kaivalya guys are more strict than the university exam I'd say. For people who are looking for a place to practice yoga---if you have a choice, then definitely try a studio somewhere else. Update: The owner contact me , apologize and give me one day extension on my trial. They said that in the afternoon and evening there''s someone who's gonna answer the door while class continues--so lessons learned: never be even a min late in morning class. But more flexibility in afternoon and night class. Sounds a bit weird to me but I think that's true. For this reason I changed the 0 score to a 2, but I still leave my full comment here to let others see what's happening and probably help to avoid another similar accident.

I couldn't tell you if Kaivalya has a good product or not -- I was nonchalantly turned away at their door by a rude instructor. I showed up during normally scheduled business hours to purchase a gift certificate only to be told that I had to "check the website" and come back later when they weren't training. Well, Mr. Yogi, it doesn't say anything on your website about other hours -- just those listed under contact & hours. How can I try your product if you won't let me? Maybe it's a cinch for you to come back later, but I took the time to check your website beforehand and then drive down to your business. I guess I'll just take my money elsewhere.

I was a little intimidated being a beginner. But now that I've taken a few private lessons with Tamara and she's really shown me some amazing things. I can't wait to start taking the regular classes! Great location too.

Beautiful studio! Kaivalya is a truly unique yoga studio and I love the teachers and serene atmosphere. The view from the yoga floor is amazing. The floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking University Ave provide a truly original experience. If you're ever in Madison, Kaivalya is a must!

Dude- I can only give it a 1 based on the look from the outside. Granted they are in the smack middle of UW (probably most of clientele-shoulda been first clue), if you are out of town yogi like myself... there is no indication on website how to get there, where to park, etc. Took me 10 min to find the joint. Walked up at 3:31 and door was locked and "doorbell" did not alert anyone. Its never cool to be late to anything but come on dudes- practice what you preach. Have some tolerance- namaste? yeah right.

Anyone looking for a good space to practice yoga in downtown Madison would love Kaivalya. Their instructors are very informed and will tailor their class to your comfort and experience level. The studio is spacious and inviting, with floor to ceiling windows for a great view. My wife and I are both repeat customers; we love it. Take a flow class with Alex when you go in.
