Some pictures I took last night at the SFAA city star party.. caught a glimpse of C/2011 L4 Panstarrs , but unfortunately i was late setting up and by the time i got it in frame, i only had time to snap a couple shots , and no time to dial in proper exposure settings. not too bad for my first comet

Had an awesome time last night with the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers ( www.sfaa-astronomy.org ) at our City Star Party.  Pretty good turn out before it started getting cold.  The kids (and grown ups) were loving the live view of the moon via DSLR Controller on my phone. You should have seen their excitement when I let them use the go-to mount hand controller to slew across the surface and explore the craters up close!

Geminid Meteor Shower / Astronomy get together at Ocean Beach in San Francisco!  If anyone is local and interested in meeting up for some astronomy tonight or tomorrow let me know! I'll have a couple of scopes set up for observing and of course my camera snapping away trying to capture a meteor or two. Should be an exciting session, but dress warm! :)

Couple teaser photos from this mornings session.I still have to process all the RAW's and have time lapse coming soon. But here's a quick peek at what I was up to at 4am this morning. I wasn't even planning on doing the moon shots, i had actually already packed up after Orion/jupiter/pleiades set Was walking back home and the moon poked out from behind the dunes and took my breath away so i decided to stay a bit longer:  Good morning Moon, Venus and Mercury - Goodnight Orion, Jupiter, Plieades! More to come, stay tuned.
