An uplifting read about something called "moral elevation". We unconsciously raise our moral game "when exposed to the virtue of others." Included is some great advice about proactively harnessing this phenomenon.

"In truth, demand is far more important than supply: We get more of what we signal we want through our dollars, clicks and votes. If our politics are too often poisonous, it is because, as a society, we are demanding too much poison. If we want to grow in virtue, and experience a healthier, more productive political environment, each of us must demand more virtue."

Also, Go Cougars!!

Binary Search Tree - Part II
I thought I was done implementing the plain old binary search tree. Then I created some unit tests and found out pretty quickly that the tree still needed some work. The first sign that something was wrong was from a test that simply filled the tree with 6 ...

Congrats! I'm trying to figure out how to casually bring this up in conversation. Perhaps, "Have you seen Turbo? Incidentally, I'm friends with one of the creators." Or maybe "Did you know that I know Stephen Ward? Who is he?! Why, only one of the men behind Turbo!" We'll see how it goes.

Linux From Scratch (LFS)
Early this year I posted what I called my programmer's bucket list . I got started on a red black tree , but that project stalled and so I recently got busy with a new item from the list that I could tackle in mostly bite-sized increments. That project was ...

Binary Search Tree
Ever since posting about my programming bucket list , I have been slowly working on the second item in the list: a red-black tree . I've made enough progress so far to feel it's worth sharing. So far I have implemented a plain-old binary search tree . I too...

Interesting. Didn't know G+ would post this for me automatically, but since it did, I might as well explain. :) My daughter is researching animation for a school project, and I helped her make this today.

Wow. This is a beautiful, powerful talk about equality in our justice system. Incredibly inspiring. It is about 20 min., and well worth it.
