The Good Idea Fairy Strikes Again: Detroit, MI - Wayne County Commision member Reggie Reg Davis has a proposal to reduce gun violence. From Fox 2 With the macabre background of a local cemetery to generate a properly somber mood, Davis has proposed a superbly asinine method for curbing the violent actions of violent people. Tax ammo and make the cops sell it. Oh and “Mental Health” background check. Why is this a terrible idea that would never in the slightest legitimately influence violenc...

Remember - Remember me when I am gone away,          Gone far away into the silent land;          When you can no more hold me by the hand, Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay. Remember me when no more day by day          You tell me of our future that you plann’d:          Only remember me; you understand It will be late to counsel then or pray. Yet if you should forget me for a while          And afterwards remember, do not grieve:          For if the darkness and corruption leave     ...

Air Weight EDC Carbine: 2A Armament Balios and Ti RBC - 5lbs. That’s all. This 10.5″ Mk18 esk AR-15 pistol weighs in at 5lbs. To anyone who is under the belief carrying an AR pistol is generally any lighter than carrying an AR rifle. It generally isn’t. Chopping around 6 inches of barrel off, or in whatever configuration you finalize the carbine, is still very close to the original weight. Getting a 7-9lb service rifle down to 5lbs takes serious effort. 2A Armament succeeded with their Bali...

Wilson Combat 300 HAM’R - Remington backed the .300 Blackout as a .30 cal solution for firing super and subsonic loads more terminally effective than 5.56 out of short barrels. An easily suppressed short barrel AR platform with a bump in lethality. Bill Wilson said (paraphrasing) “That’s cool but can it stay in the AR-15 while slaying hogs like mad?” So with that different goal in mind Wilson Combat developed the .300 HAM’R. Where the Blackout is a SBR tactical round by design the HAM’R is ...

Wednesday on the Work Bench: Routine Maintenance - I’ve been slamming the training circuit and encouraging everyone to join all summer. But we a quick detour. Are you cleaning and maintaining your firearms? How often? I advocate three types of maintenance: routine, cyclical, and event preparation. Routine Routine is for firearms in consistent or constant use. Your EDC’s and home defense guns as well as the ones going to the range once a month or more. Routine involves a daily inspection and...

Things You Hear in the Gun Store! - “Can I see that Hi-Point?” “Certainly.” The gun is cleared and placed on the counter. “Man, I know it isn’t an expensive pistol but the military using them in Iraq says a lot about their quality.” The man behind the counter, my friend. “Where is your 300 Blackout ammo?” “Over here, sir. It’s a really great round, I like it.” “Yeah, its awesome you can shoot it in 5.56 uppers.” That is how you frag your AR… “I don’t understand this question.” *Referring to...

The “Romanian Dragunov” Returns - The Firearm Blog has the scoop at the link and Circle 10 has released the information that the PSL 54C’s are returning to Century Arms. These Dragunov lookalikes are actually overbuilt AK’s that fire the 7.62x54r and are designed as a designated marksman rifle. They fulfill that eastern/com-bloc want for the famous Russian semi-auto precision rifle at a much more affordable price point. While I expect these to still be reasonable on the wallet it is expecte...
