January 2014 Update
We are about a third of the way done with language school now. We are currently in our 10th week of school. We are making progress but it definitely takes time to learn a language. We thankfully were able to spend a couple weeks at the children's home for Christmas and New Years. We had a great time and were super busy the whole time. We were able to start furnishing our apartment, which was very exciting. It really does feel like home to us now, which at times makes it hard to be away at language school, but we are glad we have that place to come back to. We also were very busy helping prep everything for Christmas for the kids. Christmas here is very big and our favorite part was the fireworks on Christmas Eve. At midnight basically all of Guatemala lets off fireworks and it is loud and crazy. We got to be with the little boys and help them set off their little fireworks and sparklers. It was a lot of fun. To hear more about our time at Christmas, visit our blog!
Shaun's birthday was last week and we had a great time celebrating! At school they got him a cake and everyone sang happy birthday. Then in the evening my teacher invited us over to celebrate. She made special(weird) tamales, which we didn't really like, but it was great trying something new here. She also had other food in case we didn't like them. We had a piñata as well which was a lot of fun.

Blog Updates
We will also be trying to update our blog each week to give more detailed updates on what our week looks like or what we are learning. You can check that out  here. We also try to update our Facebook page with small things about our day or a prayer request frequently. You can get to our page by clicking here.

Thank you!!!
We just wanted to thank you all for your continued support! We are so blessed to be surrounded by such great supporters. We truly can't do this without the partnership of each of you! So thank you so much! Please let us know how you are doing and how we can be praying for you and your family as well!

That's a Malayan flying fox, one of several types of fruit bats. They've got super adorable faces, and are completely harmless to humans! Nummy fruit, on the other hand, doesn't stand a chance!
