Asynchronous Enhancements
I've been making several enhancements to Armdroid Library to support Asynchronous operation.  This means its now possible to drive all motors, and still do other processing at the same time - for example listening to the serial port for stop requests etc. Y...

Wi-Fi-controlled Armdroid
Back during Easter Bytes at TNMOC, a visitor to the museum asked if it's possible to control the Armdroid on display using their Mobile Phone or Tablet Device...   This got me thinking, and decided to hack something together for the following weekend... If ...

Here's another rather cute little bot....  The Pi2Go by TTS is a Raspberry Pi controlled floor robot using Scratch or Python.   This can be programmed to monitor various inputs and outputs (line follower, ultra-sonic sensor, RGB LEDs, motors, and light sensor) or can be interacted with via Wifi.   Want to know more:  http://www.tts-group.co.uk/shops/tts/Products/PD4280624/Pi2Go/

LEGO Tank
This scratch built robot uses standard LEGO 4.5v Technic Motors driven by an Arduino with suitable drive circuitry to demonstrate what can be done with a little creativity.    It's rather nice, don't you think ?

We're having lots of digital fun for EasterBytes at TNMOC !
Here's the Armdroid 1 hooked up to a Raspberry PI powered FUZE machine running in BASIC.  See the short video here - https://www.youtube.com/embed/3O_T6NauvTc
Amdroid, a 30-year-old robot arm, comes back to life through FUZE at EasterBytes. Robots from the 1950s to the present is the theme of this year's Easter Bytes Festival for all the family. Lots more too! Everyday 12 noon to 5pm until 12 April. See the line-up here: http://www.tnmoc.org/bytes

The moving LED display sign project was pushed to the back of the garage last year whilst waiting on a suitable power supply.    I picked up this 7.5volt @ 24Amps switched mode power supply, and here's a short video of the alphanumeric character generator in action.

I'm currently re-implementing the bit banging to use Hardware SPI which should make the sign brighter (increased refresh rates)

Another tank photographed at last weekend's engineering show....  This unpainted model shows off the fantastic engineering & detailing.   You can't help but admire the workmanship here, really impressive !

Daniel Bull joined us today at the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace.  This video is a demonstration of Armotek's radio control model tank.  This self assembly metal kit, weighs an impressive 165Kg. has realistic sound effects, recoil actions, smoke effects, and more....

Discovered a rather nice feature on the RIGOL DS1052E DSO which I haven't found documented in the manual.....   Hold down any button for approximately 3/4 seconds, and a Help topic is displayed explaining its action.   Kind'a neat really!
