While in this case the computer program "Eugene" only "just" passed the Turing test it is a pass nonetheless. This is a great milestone for computer science. I thought it would be many years before this milestone was reached.
This is big. A computer has successfully managed to fool a bunch of researchers into thinking that it was a 13-year-old boy named Eugene Goostman. In doing so, it has become the first computer in the world to have successfully passed the Turing Test.

Fun things to do on a Tuesday: Make a list of cards in your recently lost wallet so you can ring many organisations to reissue them. Arghhh!

As a person who has to read a lot for my research, teaching and consulting work I love the convenience of being able to carry around literally hundreds of books and journal articles on my iPad. This article suggest that I may be paying a high price for this convenience.

+Jeff Jarvis I thought you might like this story about an Australian right wing radio host ranting about Google because his web site was flagged in search results because it contained known malware.
RADIO host Michael Smith wants the federal government to bring Google to account following a week in which the search giant blocked search access to his news website claiming it was “a known malware distributor”.
