The first FordTaurus was a light, fiberglass vehicle that was a majormilestone for the Ford company and that swayed many other automakersto rethink automobile design. Between 1986 and 2007, Ford constructed almosteight million models. It was ,at that time, (and still is) the fifth best-selling North American car in Ford's history, with only the powerful F-150, thesubcompact Escort, the always-black Model T, and the sporty Mustang pinned asselling more units. The 90s were perhaps the most important decade for theFord Taurus. In the mid-90s, the popular Taurus was namedthe best-selling vehicle in the United States for four years in a row. The Taurusalso went through major body styling updates in the 1990s.In 2007, Ford decided todiscontinue the aging Taurus in 2007 to better focus on SUV sales. It was supplantedby the full-size Five Hundred and midsize Fusion sedans. A new sports-wagon, theFreestyle crossover, was also presented, which was later renamed 'Taurus X' dueto the overwhelming sadness at the death of the Taurus. It's true; fans of theTaurus really wanted the vehicle back. These wishes were answered in late 2009,when Ford announced a 2010 Taurus. The 2011 and new 2012Taurus have followed, and fans are as happy as kids in a candy store. After making a successful return toSpradley Barr Ft. Collins and other Forddealers across the country (and the world!), the Taurus continues to be afavorite in the brand's lineup. Interested in purchasing the vehicle with astoried history for yourself?
