I'm so excited to start my job that I cant sleep! Taking with the owner about my first hires. Feels good to get to work starting off on the same page with people. I will be hiring probably 2 assistant brewers off the bat to start in October. If it interests you, and you'd like to move down to Wilmington, NC, and work with me send me a résumé at kzelnio(at)gmail(dot)com.

I know I'm not very active on G+ much but I know all my beer nerd buddies here will want to hear the news. We will be moving back to Wilmington, NC next month where I have been offered a great position as Director of Brewing Operations (similar to head brewer or Brewmaster) at the newly opening Wrightsville Beach Brewery. I'm extremely excited to be back in the coastal Carolinas and being part of an exciting and promising startup. Opened by a local oysterman and a US Marine, WBB will focus on a restaurant specializing on oysters and seafood, emphasizing sustainability and seasonality, and craft brewery. My job will be to oversee all production aspects of brewing great quality craft beer and working with the chef to coordinate seasonal releases of beer with the food. It's a dream job for me and a real career position that should hopefully begin to provide a much needed measure of stability for our family.

For the brewery geeks, it is a 20 BBL (23000 litre) system, starting out with 8 20bbl fermentation with room for expansion and a canning line. I want to thank my references, most of whom follow me on social media, your conversations and letters made a huge difference from what I was told. And I want to thank all the staff at JDubs for being awesome coworkers and keeping up a fun, positive environment to be a part of. They have been the best crew I've ever worked with and I'll be modeling much of my operations after them.
