About five years ago, I purchased four tickets for a dinner cruise in the Tri-Cities, Washington. It was intended as a gift for my parents. My wife and I left Seattle on a Friday to head to the Tri-Cities for the weekend and the cruise with my parents. About an hour outside the Tri-Cities, I received a call from my Dad. My mother was in the emergency room and was going to be checked into the hospital. I called Spirit and though they would not credit my purchase, they sent me a gift card for the amount I spent. Over the next couple of years there was no cruise offered in the Tri-Cities. I called Spirit and was told they would not refund my money. In June, 2013, my Father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I knew I would never use the gift card. My father died in June,2015. I called and asked for a refund again. The customer service rep said she would talk to the owner, Dan. Dan said they would not refund my money. They suggested I give the card to someone who lives in Portland. I told her I do not know anyone in Portland. I thought about selling the gift card online, but why would I want anyone to support Dan. The organization may offer an excellent product, but the complete lack of compassion on the part of the owner, Dan, is astounding. Please to not patronize this organization.

We had a great time. The scenery was amazing. The food was good. Our server Anne was good at recommending wine. She was friendly and accomodating. Fun thing to do for out of town visitors.

This was the worst thing I have ever spent money on. The food was hospital cafeteria style 30 years ago. Cold and disgusting and buffet style not what is advertised. The ship is falling apart. Spider webs with bugs near the buffet. There is peeling wallpaper everywhere, there were holes in the walls. The captain never shut his trap. Beware...read all the negative reviews - don't give these people your money. There is a reason they offer no refunds.

These jerks detained my friend for an entire party for no reason. Hes a photographer and promoter who promoted their event. 10 minutes into the trip and he was in custody for the entire trip, wasn't even drunk....yet. Atleast let him get drunk before you decide to make his entire night miserable for no reason... jeez

So talking with Carl yesterday explaining asking me why I was going on The Portland Spirit after the Redbull Flugtag Ramming incident and I explained that in business sometimes people make mistakes and as a consumer it is important to give them a chance to make things better so I decided to give the Portland Spirit another shot... After being held hostage downstairs, searched several times after 4 beers and told by security shouting at me that "I am going to throw you in jail if you say 1 word" then screaming "Do you understand what I am saying constatly till I say yes.... What a police brutality guistappo bs security guard thing to do to someone on a date with their girl and people all around are falling down stairs and smoking all over the boat but somehow I was the only one being accosted and publicly tormented. Yeah, it could have been handled very different. It does not matter my status in the community, no one deserves to be treated that way on an event you are supposed to go to and have fun!

We have taken the Portland Spirit for dinner cruises brunch cruises and just about every trip they do. The food is always top notch and so is the service and entertainment. Before people talk about seamanship they might want to look into what Maritime/Admiralty Law actually looks like. "Anchoring in a position that obstructs a passageway ordinarily used by other boats is against the law." The law is pretty clear
