Hey all! :)
www.facebook.com/robbycavanaugh. BTS and details there soon!
new work

"a watershed."

I was very much inspired by insect display cases, so I created a story around that. Being trapped behind the glass. Yet now, finally able to break through. It represents a dividing point between two phases in your life.

This turned out to be more complicated than I intended! The butterflies all needed to have their wings broken then glued back on because their wings were up, not out. Also breaking a hole in the center of a glass sheet is really difficult lol, so we had to hand crack the center little by little.

A side note, do you guys have instagram?? I post a lot of BTS and prop processes there, my life, as well as my dog..  my sn is: "robbycavanaugh", http://instagram.com/robbycavanaugh, just make sure to use the hastag #robbycavanaughphotography if you regram my work!

Model: Stephanie Cavanaugh (thanks babe!)

Enjoy !

Wow. It has been a while since I've updated here! I'm so sorry for the lack of activity here on google plus. Yet I will be updating here more frequently now :)

Here is my most RECENT, work, feel free to check out my facebook for some past works :)

"uninvited"
As kids, being invited to a birthday party showed that you were accepted. Things really haven't changed now as adults…just in a different way. We always have a fear of rejection.

This was probably one of the fastest shoots i've ever done…The waves were rough, so we had to keep dodging the waves so the cake wouldn't float away! I was glad to work with a different guy model, other than myself. Tarek(model) is a very talented designer, and is co owner of a design house called Sugar and Fluff. We were friends from college, both studying design together, so it was awesome to shoot and catch up! My lovely wife was the confetti thrower and axe coordinator haha.

Today I had ANOTHER photo adventure! This was another special treat. I got to spend the day with David Talley, Brian Oldham AND Alex Stoddard!  I've never met Alex before so it was really awesome to finally meet him in person, such a talent…as well as everyone else!

So we went to this burnt down mansion were Alex really wanted to shoot with this tub. After we hauled it over to the nearest pond…we all decided to use it lol. I didnt plan a concept prior to this day so I kinda shot on the fly. I've wanted to shoot something with a paper homemade crown. A lot has changed recently with my life and I have to remember not to get lost with what I want to pursue, not get lost in the fog(or powdered chalk lol). I need to be my own king, where I am in charge of what I wish to do.

After the shoot, and getting harassed by this really mean guy who abused his children…we were craving chinese food. So we drove to the nearest place and THAT was another adventure haha…I still don't know what I ate/ordered..

Enjoy! And watch out for posts from those three from the day! I cant wait to see what they create <3

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.

This photo is about everyone's breaking point. A lot has been happening and changing and I only know one way to cope, to create.

I hope you guys enjoy this one :)

Another photo with my awesome chameleon! Ok so, I really wanted to shoot something more on the easier side I suppose. Mainly because I am preparing for a more difficult photoshoot...but I was itching to shoot, so I had to do something in the meantime!

Having my chameleon crawl all over my face was so painful...and I covered his little mitten feet with black paint so it would create footsteps on my body! Getting him on my head was quite difficult because he didn't have much to grab on to..except my ear...then his tail curled in my mouth so I went with it! haha...

I had a lot of help with this one actually...from holding backdrops..to making sure it looks in focus, to the chameleon handling and flour throwing...so THANK YOU GUYS :D

Yes..that is an egg, an ostrich egg actually XD

For those that do not know..this is my chameleon, Link! :) I really really wanted to do a shoot with him, but I had to wait until he was big and colorful enough. He….really did not like this though lol, he wasn't mean..he was scared of the new surroundings. It took a while for him to warm up haha, usually its my model!

Also...all of my works have concepts and reasons for being..but I've found I enjoy what other people interrupt before I say why I photographed the idea :)

I will be posting BTS and a detail shot on my facebook soon!

Ok, let me clear up some things first :D

This is my save the date for our WEDDING!! On October 6th of this year :)

I've NEVER tried to use my fine art style while using the sun in this direction...I always thought it would just get too overexposed. Yet, what I found was that all I needed to do was darken my midtones XD So Im really happy with how it turned out it being my first try.....So I decided to go all out and use tornadoes(since its not a fine art portrait!), they are fake...lol....ive been in a stormy mood recently I guess!

Models - Stephanie and I :)

p.s. wind+tripods....never a good thing

So, this was the biggest tumbleweed i've ever seen lol.

It was SUPER windy...which I did not expect so this became more difficult than I thought lol. And apparently, it was a place where school buses passed by...otherwise I would have done it nude lolll.

I DID add the lightning in...totally NOT my style adding stuff that wasnt there...but I dreamt about this shot and it had lightning in it :)
