Just had a lovely week staying next to this pub. Wow. Brilliant! Good food, good decor and great friendly folk. Will come this way again.  Had a fantastic time. Open honest owners Rich & Jen, I commend you both.

Best most relaxing pub ever and fab food in a great location. It's a quirky pub with lovely owners, friendly, people, punters and staff. It's Comfy, cosy, has a very 'zen' atmosphere and generally, it's an all round a must visit pub!!! Not to be driven past!!!! Xx

Highlight of the day was finding this pub. Tasty wholesome food, chicken and Serrano burger followed by sticky toffee pudding. Kids were entertained by the interesting and funky décor and some board games to play while we waited for the rain to stop. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

Best pub for miles around, dog friendly. The landlord is excellent went the extra mile to ensure that were catered for. interesting 70's decor. We visited in Easter 2013 and are going back this easter 2014

This is a fun and funky pub... great decor, Old Devon meets 70s kitch. Open fire for winter nights and a lovely beer garden for sunny days. Friendly staff and people. Loved their beef and chorizo burger with goats cheese in ciabatta!

Excellent food and ambience generally. Staff always pleased to see you and make you welcome. Have known this pub for more than 40 years and the present owners have succeeded where others have failed in the past ! Well worth a visit

First of all I'd like to say I have known The Old Smithy for about 35 years and have been a regular there for over 20 years. Richard and Jenny are impeccably honest, hardworking people who would not dream of ripping anyone off. They are also extremely polite and courteous at all times. I have never seen either of them deviate from that, even in the most stressful situations. The Smithy is a fantastic pub and we feel very blessed to have it as our local and virtually next door to the holiday let we own. In answer to Anna-Marie Cook's complaint: 1) How do you know it was the ciders that were overcharged by £30 for, as elsewhere you say you also ate there? Does that mean your friend has the original itemised bill and not just the card receipt? The till automatically charges the correct amount for a drink that is keyed in, so it must be that more than 2 ciders were down on the receipt. 2) All the staff pass the itemised bill to clients to check, prior to going through with a card transaction, I know this because I have been there many times. Why didn't your friend question it at the time? 3) Leaving it a month to complain is very strange and unfair and unless your friend gives the landlord his name and card details, he can't even look up the transaction. Why don't you both do the decent thing and go and talk to Richard face to face to try and resolve this issue. Throwing accusations and insults around on the internet helps no one and just has a very negative effect on everybody, including the complainant.
