This piece is probably the most straight-up sentimental thing I’ve ever written, but I’m quite chuffed to join the ranks of the writers who have been published by The Saturday Evening Post. (That includes, you guessed it, my literary hero, Kurt Vonnegut.)

In case you’re wondering, it’s NOT autobiographical, though I did take a typing class in grade nine on the advice of my cousin, Beth. All the effort of learning to type has paid off 1000-fold, though I never had a relationship based on it. 🙂

You can find the story in their contemporary fiction section: Empty Space Times Two.

I've been so worried about the technological singularity that I've missed some obvious crossover singularities. Good god, what if the machines cooperate with our cats?

I'm going to interrupt the usual insanity on this page to share a bit of excitement (at least in my world.) Earlier last week The Fridgularity managed to make it to #2 on Amazon in both the humor and satire categories, nestled right next to Slaughterhouse-Five, one of my literary hero's best books. (Screenshot for proof.) Mostly this was because of advertising and a 99¢ price, but still, kind of cool to see my work listed next to that of Kurt Vonnegut.

You can still get The Fridgularity for 99¢ until the new year, BTW. ;)

Quite a bit of truth to this.

René Magritte: Merchant Banker Masters His Mental Powers at Walton-on-the-Naze

While an art historian will tell you this 1964 painting is called “The Son of Man”, and is meant to be a meditation on what is hidden in the visible world, they are of course, hiding the dreadful truth.

Disquieting Postcards I’ve Recently Received from My Future Self

Dude!

Recognize the handwriting? Yeah, it’s me. More precisely, it’s you, circa fifteen years from now. Good news — you’ve finally lost that twenty pounds! Too bad you had to amputate your right leg to do it. At least it means our BMI is low enough to keep us out of the local “Fat Reduction Centre.” The less said about those, the better. I hope you like the card. This is a picture of our home town after the alien invasion. Cool, eh?

M.

— P.S. Don’t sweat the aliens. They’re good for us.

"The great thing about social media was how it gave a voice to voiceless people, but we're now creating a surveillance society, where the smartest way to survive is to go back to being voiceless."

This is ... just ... so odd. Two AI chatbots meet, discuss Marx, and fall in love?

p.s. I'm worried about Hallie's drinking problem.
