Today my first grade class used the strategy blind sequencing to order the life cycle of a butterfly. The students were given cards with pictures of the butterfly life cycle. They had to hide their card from the group and describe what was on the card without saying any of the key words (egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly). The group members had to say what the card was, which stage it is in the life cycle, and explain their answers. The students ordered the pictures on a page. Then, as a class we discussed the life cycle of a butterfly. We had help from our assistant principal +Phyllis Santiago. Finally, the students wrote down the life cycle of a butterfly. #survivorTISD   #week6

Order up! My students had to unscramble sentences today from our Fundations lesson. This student is using the document camera to put this sentence back in order. Then the class read the sentence with her to see if it made sense.

Today we played odd one out with our Fundations phonics lesson. The students are learning to read and spell words with two syllables. Each group had to read their words and find the word that was not two syllables. Students then explained why one of the words did not belong with the others. They also went back and marked their words. #survivortisd   #week4
