Moving along...

This is now in trunk, and available with the xfce4-settings daily builds in the Xubuntu Staging PPA.  This is such a huge improvement over what we had before!  :-D  Thanks +Simon Steinbeiss for wrestling with the Cairo code to make the displays look so fancy... ;-)

More progress on the display dialog!

Development continues with the Xfce Display Settings.  +Simon Steinbeiss made the displays look a lot less boring, and I finally got the drag-n-drop functionality to work completely.  This means that custom placement of your displays will finally be possible in Xfce.  :-)

I've started picking up the (unmaintained) pieces that is xfce4-power-manager a short while ago with Eric. While we haven't made a dev-release yet (we'll do one soon though), here's a small teaser so you see what you're in for, apart from bugfixes.

Also, there's a roadmap over in the Xfce Design SIG's wiki.

Great overview of most of the stuff we've been working on so hard to get into 14.04
Xubuntu 14.04 is only two days away. Here's 14 features that make this release shine.

UPDATE
Meanwhile, this patch has been released in xfce4-indicator-plugin 2.3.1

Finally the xfce4-indicator-plugin works fine with Gtk3 indicators and any theme by default (no more adding special workarounds and patching themes!), currently in git master but also in the next release. See below with Adwaita (works just as nicely now with Ubuntu's Ambiance and Radiance themes).

Enjoy!

Another update for xfce4-power-manager with a feature I've been wanting myself for a while: control over the X11 screensaver extension (i.e. screen blanking). All in all, the 1.4 series is moving along nicely, we're down to 60 bugs in bugzilla (from >100!).

Contributions are obviously welcome as there are still bugs and missing features (see the roadmap: https://wiki.xfce.org/design/power-manager)

In other sad news...

#hostxfce

Yesterday one of the Xfce server was taken offline. The university of Stockholm did no longer want to support the #Xfce and #Lunarlinux projects, which they supported for many years.

The machine was only used as a download mirror and buildbot system.
Although there are not a lot (5) of download mirrors at the moment, the ones we have are good and reliable, however the #buildbot will be a miss eventually.

So if anyone is interested in maintaining this and has the hosting capability for this (our servers used for hosting have no visualization), let me know!

Frankly, I didn't think this day would come before Gtk3 (or even at all)!

So much work, but I am slowly hacking DND support to the Xfce Display Settings.  I've still got a looooooong way to go.

With a bit of delay, here's an article on what changed around screen locking in Xubuntu with the 14.04 release.
As this is one of the bigger changes, we've written up this post to sum up the before/after.

PS: The bug mentioned as known issue is actively being worked on...

Ahoi translators!
We're working towards a 1.4.0 release of light-locker and have introduced 4 new strings – would be great if you folks could take a look and help us out!
Amongst the missing languages are French, Russian, Turkish, Chinese and many others! Please spread the word!

Note: we manage translations on transifex.com, so you'll need an account there in order to contribute. Thanks in advance!

+Michal Olber Thanks a lot! Actually there's nothing needed to get "approved". As soon as you've submitted your translation to transifex it means it will land in the next release. (We manually pull the latest translations to github on the release day.)
