Here goes a call for testing for xfce4-power-manager - Xenial testers start your engines!

#xubuntu #xenial #lts #xfce4-power-manager

Here's a call for testing for #xfce4-power-manager, which is currently heading for its 1.6.0 release (which we can hopefully release in time for Xenial and include it), bumping it to new versions of several technologies (Gtk+3, gdbus and UPower 0.99).

The current git master version of the power manager is available at one of the team dev PPA's [1]

We're particularly interested in people with laptops trying it out, people charging phones and other peripherals - even more so people who've had issues with xfpm.

If you've not got that PPA installed

sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xubuntu-dev/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xfce4-power-manager

There are newer packages of mousepad, parole, xfce4-settings and xubuntu-default-settings, if you want to try all of those out then rather than "apt-get install xfce4-power-manager" use

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

That will upgrade all of those packages for you, if you want further
information on the dev ppa's we use for testing, check out the
contributor docs [2]

Try it out, if you want to revert to default packages run

sudo ppa-purge ppa:xubuntu-dev/ppa

The Xubuntu team is happy to announce 15.10, the Wily Werewolf!

This release has several nice features and improvements, a new application (xfpanel-switch) and is the first release to ship LibreOffice by default - following a long-standing wish of many users and community members.

So get it while it's hot!
Xubuntu – Xubuntu is an elegant and easy-to-use operating system.

Not one of the best - THE best! ;)

Catfish keeps improving!  There's been lots of fixes since 1.3.0.  At the end of this development cycle, the 1.4 series is going to be one of the best yet!
The latest version of Catfish (1.3.3) was released on October 8th. This release follows the current development cycle where I am improving usability and

It's a new Catfish development release for everyone to enjoy!

With a slew of updates and a new build system, Catfish 1.3.4 is now available! This update fixes a number of bugs, adds initial support for PolicyKit, and introduces a new PPA for Ubuntu users.

For the release of Xubuntu 16.04 LTS slowly creeping up I worked on getting Pidgin more integrated in Xubuntu's default look by designing a status icon theme for it.

If you want to test it or give it a spin (it should actually work just as well in almost any previous Xubuntu release that shipped Pidgin) you can check out the github repo below (basic installation instructions included).

A bit further down the road we'll get a PPA ready for you to use.
