Thanks to the great +Andreas Proschofsky we've got a nice (albeit understandably brief) review of our deeds in one of Austria's quality newspapers (online version, in german).

+Björn Schießle  There is the xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin which already works but is still under heavy development. You can use it in combination with e.g. pavucontrol.

If you don't use pulseaudio and gst0.10 is still in your distribution, it's likely that the mixer still works for you.

Xfce 4.12 has been released!
Xfce 4.12 is be the best release ever (yes, we like to party!)! Source : Internet comments. Today, after 2 years and 10 months of work, we are pleased to announce the release of the Xfce desktop 4.12, a new stable version that supersedes Xfce 4.10. This long period can only be explained by how ...

I have to say - the default Alt+Scroll zoom is the single most brilliant little thing I've seen a desktop implement in years.
You see lots of little features that seem brilliant in things. And then often you forget them until you stumble upon them again in a few months or years.
That zoom mode is so simple and so useful. I've used it since I first noticed it and find myself sad and missing it when I happen to be anywhere but on XFCE.
Maybe it would be simple to set it up that way in any keyboard mapping app or UI. I don't know. But it's simply brilliant to have as default. And whoever thought of it or stole the idea and implemented it here is brilliant for doing it.
Good job!

Since Skunnyk has blogged about the recent goings on in Xfce-land, I thought I'd just steal the nice screenshot he made of a feature I added to the appearance settings dialog last week.

That feature was a nice surprise, few days ago, when i downloaded the devel version xfce from AUR.  The background dialogue is broken, but i am keeping it anyway.  Xfce needs to be a staple.  It follows desktop standards.

+Alexander Eberspächer  Right, I think devilspie might be what you're referring to. I also read about someone who wrote a python-tiling-wrapper for xfwm4, you could also look for that.

Feels like an informal "community-building appreciation day"

+Daniel Holbach talks about Xubuntu in his article "Building a great community" - thank you for the kind words, Daniel!
In last night's Community Council meeting, we met up with the Xubuntu team. They have done a great job inviting new members into their part of the community. Just read this: elfy notes all contributors in his announcements that's really really nice we do blog posts, ...

Really looking forward to the benefits of Gtk+ 3 (even though the porting will be boring as hell).
As an example of a really nice feature I'm looking forward to, I've ported the xfce4-power-manager's plugin (of which we have a Gtk+ 3 version already) to use symbolic icons. Never again wrongly colored icons in your panel. \o/

(Screenshots show the plugin with Greybird and Adwaita)

Really nice to see that some people don't just copy-paste screenshots from the official Xfce tour but go the extra mile.
This tour shows even more features and maybe really everything that's new about #xfce412

Awesome work, +Alin Andrei !

We're just one week away from the next stable #Xfce  release, 4.12.  We need as much help as possible as we make our way through some remaining bugs and translations, hit to link for screenshots and to find out more.
After what seems like an eternity, a new release of Xfce is just around the corner. A lot of work has gone into the next release, slated for release in 1 week.

As some of you will have noticed, #xfwm4 received more attention again lately (welcome back, +Olivier Fourdan!).

One of the things I really appreciate is the new wireframe, which is drawn when moving, resizing or tiling windows (in case you have the two "hide content of windows" options checked and the compositor is enabled).
Very much looking forward to the next release!

+Alexander Eberspächer It'll very likely not be configurable, but corner-tiling (aka 25%) is underway, so there's that.
