The most Successful and influential people I have known keep journals. They also seem to be the most giving people as well. This research article seems to support how these behaviors are connected.

Gratitude does more than help maintain good health. New research at the University of Oregon finds that regularly noting feelings of gratitude in a journal leads to increased altruism.
