What Is Google Plus? Join me to publish an interesting article about Google+.

Good morning, everyone! I'm thinking of creating a post in my blog, where I will share your opinion on Google+ or what you think Google plus is all about.

Don't worry, it'd be fun. Simply leave a comment (short or long, please feel free) expressing your ideas about Google plus and I will compile all the comments together and publish it in my blog.

How it'll appear in my blog?

Well, I will put together all the comments and publish it. With your comment, I will add your name and business name (a website link if you'd like to have that too).

Let's do this. So, tell me, what do you think Google+ is?

How to Make a Lasting Impression as an Eco-Friendly Brand
by +Randy Bowden

In my work with Kreussler Inc, I need to be aware of the governmental guidelines for marketing green products. If you're working with a client with a green message, you need to be aware of it too.

"Let’s face it. The greenwashing of companies is diluting the messages of businesses that are very aware of the depth of issues facing the planet. Many mainstream brands slap on a label that states they recycle a small percentage of the packaging, then they exploit that in advertising."

Bottom line: you can't put a spin on greenwashing!
The FTC created a Green Guide that must be followed by advertisers, marketers and social media marketers. http://1.usa.gov/16WDSxg

Create a strong, positive and ethical message for your brand.

• Simple is stronger - a clear message is best.
From the FTC "To prevent deceptive claims, qualifications and
disclosures should be clear, prominent, and understandable. To make disclosures clear and prominent, marketers should use plain language and sufficiently large type, should place disclosures in close proximity to the qualified claim, and should avoid making inconsistent statements or using distracting elements that could undercut or contradict the disclosure"

• Inspire fun - don't use scare tactics or negative language

"Try to avoid talking about greenwashing in your ads or otherwise negatively speaking about other people or companies. Trash talking not only makes politicians look bad, it does the same thing for businesses. People gravitate towards the positive. So be sure that you are putting your best face forward in your advertisements."

Don't get caught using deceptive language or inaccurate claims about your product or company.  Check out the full article but also make sure you're aware of the FTC guidelines that regulate your marketing message.

12 Most Frequently Asked Social Media Questions, Answered

Social media has become an integral part of business marketing. Even still, many businesses still scratch their head when it comes to using social media in an effective and strategic way.

Below are three of the twelve top questions (and answers) asked by those looking to use  social media for business.

1. Why should I spend time on Google+?

As consumers look  to the Internet and social media for answers to their questions, having a diverse presence is imperative for business owners and entrepreneurs.

While Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn might have been your entry point, expanding into Google+ can be equally beneficial to your bottom line. From SEO to SMO benefits, the possibilities for growth are endless!

2. What are a few top tips to help me successfully use social media?

Share content, be passionate about your business and let that shine through across your social sites. Connect with influencers, be consistent in your efforts and never ever engage in negative or disparaging conversations.

Keep your tone light, positive and uplifting. You have a much better chance of attracting the right consumers with a positive outlook than a negative one.

3. How much time should I spend on my social media activities?

It depends on the results you are looking to achieve. My typical response is 15-20 minutes in the morning and then the same amount of time in the afternoon.

Spend your time in the morning setting up your day. Find articles from your favorite bloggers to retweet or share across any of your social networks — respond and thank retweets and shares, and schedule your posts throughout the day. Then come back at the end of the day to answer questions and thank those that have shared your content.
