The martial arts community suffered a great loss today as the passing of Soke Takayoshi Nagamine was announced by the World Matsubayashi Karate Association. Many of us have had the distinct pleasure of training and attending seminars with Soke Nagamine. Our hearts go out to family, friends and the Matsubayashi family.

It was great to hear her voice again. I had no idea all that family was buried out there.

The opening month or so was rocky as the staff was training and the food was super salty. While some of the staff is still having trouble finding a smile (hostesses), the food is great and plentiful. If you go, ask for Aja as she consistently has a smile and friendly demeanor.

While the staff was helpful and nice, the room quality and lobby is much nicer at the Marriott Marquis across the street.

Congratulations MegaCon. 2016, best yet with many more to come! With FanExpo acquiring MegaCon, I was worried that this year would be less exciting and past years growing pains revisited. The moment guests began to be announced, the more excited and timid I became. While many things improved over past years (wider isles, activities not limited to one floor, both allowing folks to move more freely), there are a few kinks that I am confident will be overcome next year. I'm looking forward to next year as well as the addition of Tampa. Kudos!

It's the 9/11 Memorial and should never be less than 5 stars.

Great views anytime of the day but you are able to take in much more of the city at night. In the same area, you can grab a bite to eat or just enjoy Rockefeller Center.
