Our earth is becoming worse and worse.

1 was in winter and the other in summer, dnt u think???

how did the same camera work for so many years..?eh?

the plush greenery .. we are loosing them.. :-(

You do realize that the 1978 version would have (obviously) been taken with a much lower quality camera than the 2012 version. The original image has higher contrast which you can even see in the above image. The colors of the image would have also been enhanced. Let's not forget that the colors of the left and right images could very well have been taken during different seasons which would affect the colors slightly. Hell, what would stop the creator of this image to change the 2012 version of the Earth ti make it look worse.

Plus, the bottom line is, no one cares either way!

2011 was an extreme drought year in Mexico, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Much of that area should be greener in winter based upon historical norms. I can't make out which area of the planet we're looking at in the 1978 picture.

OMG,America is expanding !

The world is obviously getting worse, but this image proves nothing.

It seems fake, but our earth has certainly lost a lot of its green forests during the period, and so the earth would look less greener today !

This post makes me sad, not due to the lack of greenery, there could be hundreds of possible explanations for that. More for the fact that countless people have made comments about the Earth loosing its greenery. What we are actually losing as a species is the ability to communicate using the written language.

If it isn't the same DATE it's meaningless. I'm sure seasons make a huge difference. The view from my window is solid green from late May through August, then red, orange, and yellow until late October, then grey until December, and nothing but white until April.

Even if it is the same date, it would still be pointless. No year is the same as the last year, and no decade is the same as the last decade. Let's go the extra mile and flip the second photo upside down. Now we're talkin'!

We live in a sin-cursed fallen world that was once perfect. The world is running down and fading away.

First: Obviously, these photos were manipulated.
Second: The pretty cyan color in the golf of Mexico is actually quite worrisome; that doesn't look heavily manipulated, either.
Third: Haha, +Dav Bob. You helped your own point with your final sentence (in your post from a little over 2 hours ago, not your most recent post).

That is also a different view of it. And even the earth ages.

+Mark Socks Huh? I have only posted once today and before that it was last wednesday. What is this post you speak of?

"What we are actually losing as a species is the ability too communicate using the written language."

I'm not sure what your time zone is, but you have your post at 7:59AM EST and 6:01AM EST. I was referring to the post at 6:01AM.

Ah right, gotcha. Typo which has now been changed.

technology changes everything

In the old one Mexico it's smaller than in the new one it almost fills the hole globe ,
So I think it's been heavily manipulated or America has been growing

This is so faked. If the polar ice caps are melting then we would have more water now not less. Look how large they make N.America look. I can believe some of you sheeple think this is real.

In some ways it is realistic. The land is being misused very badly. If human kind keeps treating the Earth the way we do, and not do anything big to help it, we will kill the planet.

hey +Harry Byrd ... its because they're Muppets, that believe everything they read on the internet is true !!!

I'll show you a pic of me in 1978 and a pic of me today and you'd be much more shocked than this. Nothing to see here.

+ShengRong Fu "whom to be blamed?"

Axial tilt. We must all rise up and protest axial tilt! What will this world come to if it's allowed to continue? Unite brothers and sisters!

I say STOP PLATE TECTONICS!!! +Balazs Lanyi , this is the results from Teachers unions stopping the teaching of kids and leaving it up to a DVD with Al Gore on it... they stop thinking.

Late spring vs. late fall in North America. Yes, it looks different

+Greg Ewing Thank you so much for the truth. The photos tell it all. Also, if global warming was the factor and not natural climate change, than why have the ice caps been melting for hundreds of years? We cannot effect the world, it will do as it pleases.

If any of you believe this load of BS you are doomed to die. Our planet is greener now than it has ever been.

are you sure whether they had been taken at the same time in both the years?

The solution was known in 1978 also! Stop using so many trees! There are other sources of fiber!

No matter the wrongs in the picture, it is stating some sort of point. If you all would get over the picture debate and actually think about what the message in the post may be, then you might actually understand. Instead of being ignorant and fighting, look deeper, if you can do that. Honestly.

I think the photo shows deforestation. That's why the green part turns brown. This does not show global warming except by assumed connections.

+Jonathan Plank Paper is made from fiber. That's why they tell you paper is made from trees. You can make paper from other things also! Generally all you need is pulp. I've made paper before. Ever made paper?
Oh, I can burn a plate, too, align it on a press, and run copies, too.
All that in mind, fire away! :) What do you have to teach me?

first of all that pic is obviously photoshoped, the size of america is not even propotional in the 2012 photo, did north america gain wieght in those 3 decades?

also this photo would imply that north america is now a dessert, take a look at the sat view on google maps and it is obviously NOT a dessert.

dont drink the koolaid that these enviromental activists and al gore are serving, they are getting rich over this with government grants that come out of our pockets and also using this hoax as an excuse to control us more.

its all politics, fuck the government!!!

... and then he get's all technical on us. :)
"its sh00ped" he says ... :D
.... .... so is my profile photo- the lighting was bad. So I fixed the photo. It doesn't make me any less real. :) And neither is the problem of having no trees.

+Shane Corning truth is we have plenty of trees, we wont run out of oxygen any time soon.

all this deforestation impacting the earths ozone and our oxygen is just plain bullshit.

hell 70% of our oxygen comes from the ocean, only 20% from the rainforests, and those are facts that you can look up.

even if every tree on earth where cut down there would still be very little harm done to this earth.

now I know that wont happen and I dont endorse cutting every tree down but these activists do more harm then good by taking away our rights and giving legal precedent that has potential to penalize people who want to remove a tree in there yard on the property they own.

I for one am taking the side of humans having free choice over the enviroment that is not even having any real proplems except the ones made up by al gore and the other wackos.

+Black Ice +John Murphy It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see developments in suburbs cut down lots of trees. And we're not planting more. And if they are planting more - then where? And is it truthfully happening at the rate it should be?
