There's been a lot of commentary today (mostly on Twitter) about this new fantasy RPG book called Atlantasia. It's a 544 page thing published through iUniverse and reportedly full of bluster and calls for realism and so on. It's really easy to point at this kind of thing—a so-called fantasy heartbreaker—and point out how the author doesn't know anything about games outside of D&D, or his website is bad, or his fantasy world is no good.

What I want to say is, this one dude wrote a 544 page book, got the love and support from friends and his wife, had a vision for what he wanted, and he did it. So hopefully we can celebrate that, even if we don't think the results of his endeavors meet whatever standards we set out for RPGs or game design or writing. This stuff isn't easy, yeah?
