Have you heard of the 'Deregulation Bill'?

If you haven't, you need to.

It seems the Conservatives have taken all their pet hates and thrown them into one Bill. No doubt there will be things you agree with, but guarantee there will be many you don't.

For example: Did you know it'll reduce school holidays from 6 weeks to 4 weeks?

What's clear is that there should be no way this bill should go through without huge amounts of consultation and major editing. Infact it should probably be split in multiple bills, any of which would never get support.

Please read more and sign the petition against this proposed bill.
Throw Out the Deregulation Bill 2013-14. Responsible department: Cabinet Office. If passed, the Deregulation Bill will repeal a wide range of legal safeguards and citizen's rights. Rights to consultation and enquiries will be affected, and health and safety laws will be decimated.

Unbelievable - Sat in all morning awaiting BT engineer, booked weeks ago. Just discovered they've cancelled my upgrade, without any notice to me - Reason given on system 'No Contact Information For Customer' - Can anyone see the irony in the fact that they are upgrading my telephone line! - BT you are unbelievably crap!

MPs have decided to cover up their expenses rather than sort out the corruption. Sign the petition to say 'We want to know what MPs are claiming'

https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/page/s/keep-mps-expenses-public#petition
Plans are being floated to hide the names of MPs whose expenses are being looked into. But we should know what our MPs have been spending our money on. Sign the petition to keep all MPs' expenses public now!

Nelson’s Norfolk - Public Talks Schedule

A series of talks is taking place throughout the Nelson's Norfolk exhibition. All talks are free and open to all. No need to book but arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Here's what's still to come:

Wednesday 20 August: Fusion 2pm

‘Nelson’s Norwich School’. A talk by John Walker, Archivist, Norwich School.

Wednesday 27 August: Fusion 2pm

‘The Battle of the Nile – Nelson’s Great Victory’. A talk by Dr Richard Maguire, Associate Dean for Employability, and Senior Lecturer, UEA School of History.

Wednesday 27 August: Fusion 6pm

What can Vice Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson teach the bosses of today?

Quite a lot, according to Nigel Cushion, Chairman of Nelsonspirit – a Norfolk-based organisation which specialises in mentoring today’s business leaders and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Much had been said and written about Nelson’s inspiring leadership style; his iconoclastic approach led to victory over Napoleon, passionate loyalty from his men and national hero status in his own lifetime.

Nigel Cushion is presenting a talk at The Forum, Norwich, on Wednesday 27 August at 6pm. The talk is FREE.
