I should be asleep as I type this. In actuality, I was still preparing my uniform for today's shift towards noon. As I opened another tab in my web browser to stream video and thus distract my ears, I was greeted by a nightmare.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the next President of the United States, elected yesterday and set to take office on 20 January 2016, has been chosen. Donald Trump will be the 45th President.

Granted, I wasn't happy with either candidate from the Nation's two primary political parties. Despite this, I felt quite certain that Mr. Trump was the least qualified and least suitable candidate for President. He has proven egocentric (if not egomaniacal), chauvinistic, hateful in his speeches. He insists that he will build a wall around the Mexican-American border, and make Mexico pay for it. This man is now poised to relieve President Obama and take over as the leader of the most powerful First World Nation in the Globe. This is the man who will be entrusted with nuclear launch codes, effective command of our nation's entire military, and more.

I trust, then, that any who read this forgives me for sharing my first reaction to this news - summed up by this clip from the Star Wars films!

So I just received an order in the mail this evening. An impulse buy I made online, these guys usually sell out pretty quick. May I present 30th Anniversary Edition figures of the VF-1J and VF-1S Valkyrie Veritech Fighters from Robotech: the Macross Saga! I have no intentions to remove them from their boxes yet, but it will happen eventually.

So, I just received my limited edition copies of the Night Lords trilogy (incidentally, my third set of copies, as I own each story in both their original print formats, and the Omnibus copy) today, and am amazed by the quality. I would like to add that the quality and cover art is much better than the stock image from my Omnibus edition (which is currently on loan to a friend of mine). I also took the liberty of skimming through the new introductions to each novel from the author. Aaron Dembski-Bowden, you glorious heretical champion of pen and quill! Also, I love that shoutout to Raoul Julia's interpretation of M. Bison. Well played, good sir.

Jason Voorhees is now playable on Mortal Kombat X Mobile. Currently, there are two gold character cards for him; Unstoppable Jason can be earned as part of a 5 Tower challenge, and Slasher Jason Voorhees is being used as both a high tier Faction War multiplayer season reward as well as a very rare pull from his own (marked up) Kombat Pack. So far, I only have the Unstoppable Jason card. My recommendation is to team him with Warlock Quan Chi (to abuse Jason's innate revival clause) and either of the other cards from the Revenant pack. Alternatively, I used my maxed out Fusion rank 2 Grandmaster Sub Zero card, to further abuse the revival effects. With his Ice Daggers, Sub Zero can also heal off his 2 bar special attack, meaning he and Unstoppable Jason can recover from fatal wounds and keep fighting.

Finally made it to the Erron Black challenge boss fight. Boss Erron's fight modifier reads "Out world Roulette: Choose your fate, before Erron Black chooses for you!" I didn't think much at first... until I landed on "Death Bullet". It gives Erron an instant Brutality X-Ray attack! My Liu Kang was struck by it, and turned into meaty giblets and a fountain of blood. I wanted to rage and laugh hysterically at the same time.

Playing a round of MKX Mobile's Faction Wars, I stumbled across what may well be the most ridiculously powerful team I've ever seen. For those unaware, the Silver card for Cassie Cage gains an additional 50% attack when teamed with any Sonya Blade card, and 50% health with any Johnny Cage. This guy went full ham, and used the Gold cards Demolition Sonya (+30% attack to all Spec Ops team members) and A-List Johnny (+30% Health). This team had Cassie dealing out damage in the thousands with basic attacks alone! This is how you build teams, people. Granted, this team has been available since the game's launch, but I never thought I'd see the numbers I was seeing as a result. Additionally, I was using one of my top teams, my "Defenders of the Realm"; my Raiden card was barely chipping away at the wall of hit points that was Cassie Cage.

Shout out to the player who put that team together and took the time to level it up: "oceanlab0".

So, the early access pack for Gunslinger Erron Black was made available earlier this week on MKX Mobile. I decided to buy a pack, and was not disappointed. Erron comes packed with his support cards, as well as his unique weapon card, Revolvers. Seeing as my Outworld fighters with support disciplines were already a few levels ahead, I decided to group him with two other unused cards in my collection: Swarm Queen D'Vorah and Blood God Kotal Kahn. With the equipment I gave them, plus their passive ability disciplines focused on improving their second special attacks, I'm convinced that this team is a convenient Outworld Triple Threat. It isn't as bad as the MoS Ermac/ Mournful Kitana shenanigans we saw prior to the last Kontent Patch (it's been nerfed now; no more unblockable, opening X-Ray attacks from Ermac), but each of these cards is a haymaker in their own right. Had the timing been different and I had a wider pool of available cards from the game's roster, I would have paired either of my three cards differently. Sun God Kotal Kahn would improve Erron's attack value, and Noxious Reptile would have been nice for either D'Vorah or Blood God Kotal (see Kotal's unique weapon card, the sacrificial knife).

So, some people may already be aware of this, but the recent Kold War Sonya challenge on the MKX Mobile app has a neat little spoiler of things to come. Namely, a preview of another challenge reward character card: Gunslinger Erron Black. He actually appears more than once in one of the hard mode towers.

So, I've been wanting to talk about team composition on the MKX Mobile App. Let's face it people: half the reason why other players are clobbering your ghost data in Faction Wars is because your teams are trash. Why? Because so many of you are not building off any synergies between cards! I've faced off against multiple teams of cards where the Passive abilities don't seem to be taken into account on each character card. It's as though the goal is literally to win through brute force tactics. That may work against the CPU, but when the CPU is piloting your teams against other players? No, that doesn't work. Skilled players know how to identify the high value targets in team composition, and eliminate them with extreme prejudice.

Conversely, I took a screenshot of my more recent team. Covert Ops Cassie Cage recently replace my other Sonya card, so she isn't well leveled yet. Despite that, she's a powerhouse and provides an added chance of unblockable attacks for all Spec Ops members on the team (read: ALL!). Demo Sonya boosts attack values which in turn improves damage output. Heavy Weapons Jax provides a defensive toughness boost in addition to his 2nd special packing a unique property (hint: splash damage). Equipment is likewise made to capitalize or compliment each of these passives

Playing the MKX Mobile App, is used my weekly faction war earnings for another Kombat Pack. After levelling both gold Sonya Blade cards and the challenge exclusive Heavy Weapons Jax to level 20, I finally pulled the mother of all Spec Ops cards. Meet the bane of my MKX Mobile existence, Covert Ops Cassie Cage.
