Troubleshooting  -

Has anyone worked with PETG? I am loving it's properties, but I am having a hell of a time getting rid of the stringing and blobs. It is pretty bad. My hotend is set to 240c, retraction speed is 50mm retraction amount is 4.5mm, travel speed is 175mm, filament diameter is set to 1.71mm and extrusion multiplier is set to 94%. What else can I do? I suppose I could try turning down the extrusion multiplier EVEN further, I don't know if I want to put the retraction much higher. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I believe it was between 1 1.5mm at 60. Just moved to an E3d (stock ptfe block finally got too bad) going through the dial in process again.
Also, no bed temp and Frogtape, great surface finish and can reuse for multiple prints if you are careful removing the part.

+Allen Lowe 20 tooth in theory will give you a finer resolution for sure. Let me know if it fixes the ripplinq? Either way it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Despite the temperature issues I have been having, my light saber turned out awesome. Just need to paint it now.

I just bought this http://rigidbot.com/product/part-fan/ from IAP.. Does anyone know where to find the STL for the mount?

The housing diameter on mine from IAP is just about 50 mm if that helps.

So, my hotend temps used to always stay very stable until the last 2 days. Can anyone give me any clues to what might be causing this? Not only is it fluctuating much more than it used to, but it is consistently reporting lower than the target.

I ran into that a couple weeks ago on one head only.  Not sure what causes it as one print it was fine and on the next it would hover 5 - 10 degrees below target.  This was only on the primary head with no issues with the secondary.

The solution so far was to adjust the PID levels.  I ran an PID auto tune through Pronterface which sugested changes but did not help.  I manually adjusted them through the LCD display by a half again what was suggested (Increase P and I and decress D) by the auto tune and saved them and the problem seems to have been corrected.

Well, I installed the newly designed PTFE and a new nozzle. I can push the filament through like butter now, But it still won't extrude. I am getting the motor clicking even though the filament is so easy to push through. I just tested, and it is making the knocking noise even when no filament at all is inserted.

+Peter Stoneham the machine screws used to secure the motor to the original plastic mount are too long to attach it to your mount. Can you tell me what screws I need to get? Or did they come in the kit somewhere?

I have recently started shipping the stepper mounts with screws. I probably should have done so from the beginning as not everyone has piles of screws lying around as I do.

it used to work perfectly, and sometimes it still does. PID autotune? something else?

+Andrew RigidBot so that newly designed PTFE and nozzle are working beautifully. I have put nearly a kilogram of filament through them with no issues so far.

I'm sure they will last now, I had to drill mine out once in the beginning, I scraped a slight counterbore into the hole with a larger diameter drill and.never had it close up agian.

Well, after a failed upgrade to an e3d v6 I decided to go back to the stock hotend until I get +Peter Stoneham's proper mount. So I put it all back together with a new PTFE tube. Sure enough, clicking extruder. Sigh. I can push the filament through, but it won't extrude. I will try one more time with another new PTFE and a new nozzle. +Andrew RigidBot is it possible that it is the potentiometer again? That would seem crazy to me. I will also note that right after reassembly it extruded properly for like 2 minutes, then quit

It didn't clog. The nozzle-end of the PTFE contracted around the filament.

I got a cut and a shave from Una himself. This is a proper barber shop, with serious barber's that know what they're doing. I told him what I wanted and trusted his judgement whenever I was unsure. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. Una gave me a neck and shoulder massage with a large massaging tool after the cut, which was a really nice touch. I went in with long Scottish curls, and left with a nice clean look and a great feeling. I will definitely go there again, and I'll probably bring my sons.
