the absolute definition of the "love" ingredient.. must try it.. pork chop and fried chicken were both amazing and perfectly prepared.. this humble place puts much prettier places to shame in every category.. be sure to bring cash

Great little local soul food spot. The place is small and everything is cooked to order no KFC here. Miss Martha is a blessing and the food is good too. Of typy lime fried chicken an colander greens this is the place. A don't miss if you're in Charleston.

I've passed by this place before and decided to go in for date night. We're always looking for new hidden places to try. The restaurant has a great family-feel. There's not a lot of seating, so it's really personal. The portions are so big and so good!! We had the whiting (fish) and pork chops. Both were excellent! Mac & cheese, cornbread, lima beans (vegetarians: it tasted like these were cooked with meat, so you should maybe avoid), cobbler, and apple pie-- all amazing! It's not a fancy place, but more of a place you should check out for a casual lunch or dinner. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a non-touristy spot! (Btw: We were there for a late lunch Friday and it was $13.50 per plate-- well worth it!)

Best fried chicken, cooked to order. Not greasy. Peppery (not overly cheesy) mac & cheese. Save room for peach cobbler, which is not overly sweet. Hole-in-the-wall spot with friendly service...waiter let us try out all the sides. Out of the way, but worth it. Also, check out Edmund's Oast across the street.

I had Fried chicken with 3 sides: cornbread, Lima beans and potato salad... Best traditional southern food in Charleston!! Easy parking, a little small but amazing! Tried 3 other corn bread and fried chicken places in town and this was by far the best in town! Loved it

Erica said this was her favorite fried chicken ever. That's coming from a child who cleans literally every piece of chicken to the bone. I loved the lima beans and the cabbage. I had the fried pork chop and it was awesome. My son tried the beef ribs and it was deliciously fall off the bone. It IS a HOLE IN WALL. We were dumbfounded by someone complaining about this fact. Just because it was on TV does not make it anything more than it is.

WOW! In Charleston looking for some great soul food, and look what I found. Martha's gave me samples of all the food that ordered and I gave them all my money (lol) because I was sold then. If in the area, please stop by and get some great food and some real southern hospitality. See you next time when I come back, and I was told that I will be back....... From Maryland !
