January 1916. Two upper-class pairs of lovers in a country manor that has opened its doors to wounded soldiers. One private returned from the front line to convalesce. And a harmless bet.
When Ferrando and Guglielmo are seemingly called up to active duty, Fiordiligi and Dorabella swear fidelity until they come home. But the appearance of two handsome officers threatens to jeopardise that promise. Handsome officers who, underneath their impressive moustaches, look strangely familiar…
Will Private Don Alfonso be proved right? Are all women inherently unfaithful? And what possible reason could he have to test his theory on these unsuspecting couples?

The Coach House Restaurant will be open until the start of the performance (7pm), serving hot seasonal food as well as a soup of the day from the chef’s table and home bakes from the Bakery and, of course, wine and beer. Opera ticket/confirmation holders will received a 10% discount.

Parking is free and will be in the main visitors car par, George's Car Park (AL9 5HX)

A cast of just five actors present every single one of Geoffrey Chaucer's timeless tales in under two hours. Join the pilgrims for puppetry and poetry, music and magic, talking chickens and burnt bottoms.

Fast-paced, physical and funny, this show is pure medieval mayhem for the whole family.

“Dazzlingly daft” (The Stage)

This event takes place in Elephant Dell and ticket holders are invited to bring low back chairs or picnic blankets to sit on.

This an outdoor event and will take place whatever the weather.

Advanced ticket holders will be able to enter the Park via Station Lodge (AL9 5AE) from 5:30pm on Wednesday 24th August in order to park closer to the Theatre venue. Anyone with advanced tickets wishing to spend the day here and therefore arriving before 5:30pm will be asked to park in George's Car Park, our normal visitor's car park (AL9 5HX) and walk to the theatre location or drive round after 5:30pm.

Anyone wishing to purchase tickets on the day (if still available) will need to park in George's Car Park, our normal visitor's car park (AL9 5HX) and visit one of our ticketing points and then walk to the theatre location or drive round to enter the Park via Station Lodge (AL9 5AE) after 5:30pm.

Elephant Dell is located in a naturally shaped grass bowl in the grounds of Hatfield House. This location is about a 2 or 3 minute walk across grass from the car park accessed through Station Lodge. The nearest toilets are located in Stable Yard which is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Elephant Dell. Drop off and Disabled Parking is available closer to the site, however, there is still a very short walk over the grass from here.
