David Mixner has been involved in public life, policy, business and a writer for over fifty years.

Mr. Mixner is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir, Stranger Among Friends and the number one bestseller Brave Journeys written with Dennis Bailey. In addition, they have written two screenplays, numerous articles and a stage play called “Jacobs Ladder”. His screenplay written with Richard Burns, Dunes of Overveen, won the Outfest MTV Award for “Best New Screenplay”. In additional his screenplay written with Dennis Bailey, Fire in the Soul, is about a romance in 1913 Colorado during the Great Colorado Coalfield War. His third book “At Home With Myself” will be released from Magnus in October, 2011.
In July, 2011 he appeared off-Broadway in a one man show - “From the Front Porch” – which was called “brilliant” by New York Magazine.
He is Executive Producer on the award-winning documentary called “House on Fire” which deals with HIV /AIDS in the African American community.
Over the years, Mr. Mixner has worked in over seventy-five campaigns as campaign manager, fund-raiser or strategist. He was national Co-Chair of Congressman Richard Gephardt’s campaign for the Presidency.
Mr. Mixner has raised over $30 million for candidates and charity organizations and near $1 million for openly gay and lesbian candidates alone across the country
Mr. Mixner has been an unofficial advisor to numerous elected officials on a number of issues. His reputation as a strategist and implementor is nationally known. Numerous universities, including Oxford, Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, Princeton, London School of Economics, etc have invited him to lecture. Recently he debated at the Oxford Union and received the largest number of votes in that institution’s history.
Mr. Mixner has placed his papers in the “David Mixner Collection” in the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University. He has received numerous awards and honors.
