With School around the corner don't let your kids deal with the Beasts of Burden

Would you ask your child to walk to school carrying a box of rocks, a bowling ball or a bag of sand on his or her back?

Unfortunately, that is how heavy student backpacks are getting. Backpacks are not only used to carry textbooks and binders but also water-bottles, in-line skates, laptop computers, CD's, gym clothes, shoes, cell phones, coats, lunches and beverage containers. A number of problems can occur if backpacks fit improperly, are too heavy, or are worn incorrectly.

Strategies for Success: Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP)

This practical three-day workshop is designed for therapists who wish to expand their knowledge of the CO-OP approach. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the rationale for using a cognitive approach with children and adults. Participants will learn how to complete dynamic performance analysis. Calling all OT Students writing the NOTCE!

The CAOT Occupational Therapy Exam Module (OTEM) assists candidates to prepare for the National Occupational Therapy Certification Examination (NOTCE) through online group discussion of practice questions.

OTEM offers exam candidates the opportunity to work through and discuss the rationale and reasoning that address a series of NOTCE practice questions through a facilitated discussion with an experienced occupational therapist. OTEM small groups will meet online once a week for 6 weeks, each week discussing case scenarios reviewing 140+ questions in total. Each small group will be facilitated by a registered occupational therapist that is knowledgeable of the content and the clinical reasoning required to successfully answer the practice questions.
