Yikes, what a week. With shock waves still reverberating around the world from Britain’s exit from the European Union, here’s a look at some rather less controversial exits from my trav…

How close is too close? Join in this week's #travel   #photography  theme and find out. #travelphotography
Aagh, just as I was getting ready to write this week’s travel theme, I found myself locked out of the house. As I waited for someone with another key to arrive, I stared in anguish through th…

Embracing neutrality for this week's #travel  theme

#photography   #travelphotography
While bright colours are great at attracting attention, gentle neutrals allow the eye to linger over details. I had a look through my photos for shots that contained predominantly neutral colours a…

Hat tip to #nationalpoetrymonth  and Ireland's #Nationalpoetryday  in this week's #travel   #photography  theme
Ireland celebrated National Poetry Day yesterday; and across the pond the US celebrates National Poetry Month every April. Now I love a good poem (one of my current favourites is The Swan) so I th…

Stepping up the glitz and dazzling for this week's #travel   #photography  theme. #travelphotography
Dazzling is one of those fabulous words that smacks of magic with all those zzs nudging up against that initial d. It’s such a lovely word to speak aloud, and a fun theme to try to find photo…

Not going anywhere for this week's travel theme
#travel   #travelphotography   #photography
It’s that time of year when I begin to get restless and start looking at new and exotic destinations to add to my list of places I must visit soon. But until my next trip, I am resolved to em…

Celebrate the Sisterhood of the Travelling Plants :)

It occurred to me recently that many of my travels have involved, at some point or another, close up encounters with plants, from giant redwoods in California to tiny mosses in the Hoh rainforest. …

Get your tent ready
Now I’ve done my fair share of camping, with, ummm, mixed results, like when my sleeping bag got flooded at Mount St Helens, or the time I woke up with a face full of keyboard along the Orego…

I have been catching up with old friends recently and thought it might make an interesting topic for this week’s travel theme. First up, two girls catching up in front of the fountain at Linc…

Celebrating the written word for National Library Week
It will probably come as no surprise to you that I am a proud, (library) card-carrying bookworm; I adore the written word. Admittedly, e-books are convenient when you have limited space in your ca…

A girl in love with the romance and art of travel
Introduction
Photographer, Writer, Adventurer, Globetrotter, Explorer; I love nature, animals and Life with a capital L.

Hi there! I'm Ailsa. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my icecream stolen by a gull in Cornwall.

And I'm just getting started.
