Happy Straw Hat Day!
I've never considered myself a slave to fashion; to be honest I delight in being quirkily unfashionable; shabby chic and more often than not, just shabby. As I was writing that last sentence I took...

I've twirled around a Maypole or two to celebrate May Day in years gone by, but this year, I went looking for a different tradition associated with the beginning of May and the Irish festival of Be...

Lá Bealtaine, the ancient Irish May Day festival, is fast upon us, and it is a time of year when faeries go into overdrive, much like they do during the festival of Samhain. In olden times, great b...

Ireland is home to many splendid gardens and I'm hoping to visit as many of them as I can and write about them along the way, but every so often you happen across a garden so delightful that it is ...

Merrion Square is a delicious little park right in the heart of Dublin that manages to slip under the radar of most visitors to the city. Similar to the nearby and more well-known St. Stephen's Gre...

Gale force winds are making for some rough weather in my little corner of the world, so to calm things down, I'm perusing some of the smoother photos I've taken on my travels. The smooth, glassy st...

I was up before sunrise this morning, and as the sun slipped over the horizon and chased away the grey blue of night, there was a wonderful moment when the countryside was bathed in the softest of ...

It's May 1st and all around the world at this time of year ancient peoples celebrated the primal urge to, ahem, pass their genes on to the next generation. Easter bunnies, easter eggs and maypoles ...

I don't take too many photos where the subject is dead centre, but occasionally, it works, like this one of the calyx of a startlingly white poppy in West Seattle. But as I said, I don't take many ...

The 30th of March is "Take a Walk in the Park Day" - nobody is quite sure how, when or by whom this 'holiday' was started, but who cares, what a fabulous idea. I love that it falls on a Monday this...

A girl in love with the romance and art of travel
Introduction
Photographer, Writer, Adventurer, Globetrotter, Explorer; I love nature, animals and Life with a capital L.

Hi there! I'm Ailsa. I’ve lived in many places, and travelled to many more. I had a lot of fun getting there and being there, wherever there happened to be at the time. I climbed a castle wall in Czesky Krumlov, abseiled down cliffs to go caving in the west of Ireland, slept on the beach in Paros, got chased by a swarm of bees in Vourvourou (ok that wasn’t fun, but it was exciting), learned flower arranging in Tokyo, found myself in the middle of a riot in Seoul, learned to snowboard in Salzburg, got lost in a labyrinth in Budapest and had my icecream stolen by a gull in Cornwall.

And I'm just getting started.
