Saturday Morning SAT’s sessions

If you've got a child in Year 2 or Year 6 you may be wondering:

What are SATs?

All state primary pupils in England are tested in Year 2 and Year 6 at the end of key stage. Results are then submitted to the school's local authority and to parents by the end of the summer term.

In Year 2 children are assessed by a combination of teacher assessment and tests and are tested in Reading, Spelling, Writing and Maths. Year 6 children are tested in spelling, punctuation and grammar (known as the SPAG test), reading and maths. Their writing is assessed by the teacher.

At the end of year 2, the minimum expected level is a 2b - note this is not the national average as it is sometimes touted to be but a target standard. In Year 6 a level 4b is the minimum expected level.

So how much do SATs matter for my child?

We'd love to say they don't have any significance, but many secondary schools base their year 7 sets on children's year 6 scores and whilst others carry out their own testing they are based on the same knowledge and skills. If your child is in Year 2 and achieving below a 2b then it is going to become increasingly difficult for them to close the gap and to achieve a 4B by Year 6.

Is your child ready for their SATs?

Are you confident that your Year 6 child will achieve at least a Level 4b in Maths, Reading, SPAG and writing or that your Year 2 child will achieve at least a Level 2b in Reading, Spelling, Writing and Maths?

Educ8te Tuition Centre can help. From January we will be running one hour Saturday SAT’s preparation sessions. Contact us for further details.

On Thursday 10th April 2014, Educ8te Tuition Centre was inspected by Ofsted, as we are voluntarily registered on the Childcare Register. We do not have to be registered, but it is my personal view that any organisation providing tuition or childcare for children should be. As part of this registration we have to comply with high standards. We are in fact the only tuition company in Norfolk that is registered with Ofsted.

The inspector performed a thorough inspection of our premises, our policies and our procedures to ensure that we complied with all the Ofsted requirements. For these Inspections there are three categories of grading:

Compliant
Requires improvements
Unsatisfactory

I am delighted to say that we received a Compliant grading and that the inspector was very complimentary about our provision. This now means that our Ofsted registration is renewed. The letter confirming this is available to view if anyone would like to see it.
