We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor  leading main contractor who operate within the Civil and Highways Sectors. The Quantity Surveyor will need to present proposals to managers and clients within in the highways projects located in Berkshire. You will be expected to supervise a team to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within the allocated budget, and you will have intermittently travel within the South West Region when necessarily.
Relevant Qualifications needed;

Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering
Progressed steadily from an Engineering background
Previously worked on Highway sectors
Chartered or Working towards Chartership
Experience of managing a team of on site staff (engineers, foreman, etc)

Roles & Responsibilities:

The preparation of Valuations/Applications for Payment
The preparation of Cost Reports to the Client
The preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
The administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts
Contract administration, including change management and maintaining associated registers.

Town Planner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Town Planner to work with a developer with an excellent reputation for quality of projects, size of projects and staff retention and welfare. The developer concerned acquires land, obtains planning and completes developments, therefore managing the full life-cycle of their developments.
They not only build apartments and houses, but schools, churches and commercial buildings as part of residential led mixed use developments too with significant involvement in the Build to Rent (BtR) Sector acting for Operator’s and Investor’s.
This company urgently seeks a Town Planner to help with their developments and support the Land and Planning Department. As a key member of the team, you will be involved in sites from acquisition and helping with background research as part of the due diligence to help inform the purchase of sites.
In addition, you will be tasked with assisting on major schemes acquired that are complex in nature and require pragmatic solutions in order to gain planning permission. Therefore, planning expertise, a sound knowledge of the planning system, communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
The role is working in the Land and Planning Team and will involve in reporting to board level and other departments so enabling the suitable person to progress their career on either client side or developer.
Responsibilities for the role include:
Communication

Assisting the Planning Department in effective working relationships with local authorities, GLA, consultants and agents.
Regular dialogue and communication with Head of Planning and Planning Manager on day-to-day matters.
Liaise and negotiate with planning officers, architects, consultants, third parties.

Planning

Responsibility for preparing planning appraisals for each new potential acquisition.
Ensure that appraisals are presented in a professional manner with required input from other internal or external parties in line with the Company’s procedures.
Undertake research and analysis in preparing due diligence for potential acquisition sites including but not limited to planning policy and planning history including on neighbouring sites.
Assist in the preparation of briefs to architects from feasibility stage through to planning instruction.

Development Management

Assist with preparing planning applications, including planning statements.
Assist with coordinating consultant teams from acquisition through to determination of planning applications.
Prepare responses to consultation drafts of Local Plan, GLA, National Planning documents, legislation and good practice.

Meetings

Attend Planning Meetings and keep management team fully informed of issues and progress.
Prepare/make presentations at pre-application meetings, public consultation and planning committees as appropriate.

 
Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:

2 to 4 years’ experience, ideally at Planning Consultancy or Developer.
MRTPI qualification or in the process of applying for MRTPI.
London Authority/GLA Experience desirable.
Residential experience with examples of assisting on schemes which are 150 units plus.
Be computer literate including Microsoft Office.

The role is as a Development Planning Manager to work within the busy Land team. The responsibility of the role is to asses opportunities with the skill-set that has been built over a period of time in your career development. You will have a Planning bias but experience in land Acquisition and Development Management. Working alongside Senior Land Managers and reporting into the Land Director you will be tasked with assessing opportunities and helping to either get these through the Planning process or perhaps advising whether the proposed site is viable to acquire.

Land Manager is urgently required by a well funded, smaller compact Developer based in Central London. The Developer has been established for over 5 years and has a mixture of sites that have been acquired. Currently the Developer has a niche team of Land Buyers/ Acquisition Managers who are delivering sites in Thames Valley, London, Surrey and Sussex. 
The requirement is to find a Land Acquisitions Manager who is confident on delivering sites in the Essex and Kent regions and surrounding areas on the East side of London. The key to finding sites for this developer is to buy off-market deals. These can be found a variety of ways which will include utilisation of contacts, sending of approach letters and walking the streets if necessary.
The ideal sites will vary in size from 2 units to 35 units and will be generally in commuter belt areas and locations that will sell when built. In addition it is worth pointing out that the company concerned will look at ANY size site if the numbers stack up, it is off market  and has the potential to be flipped at a profit if too large to build out.
 The rewards are substantial for acquiring Land with this Developer, there are acquisition bonus’s that can equate to several hundred thousand pounds on offer as commission can be based on profitability or acquisition value. In addition to this you can expect a retainers fee that ensures the Developer has first refusal on Sites found.
