Hello all:  I am Rosemary Powers from La Grande, Oregon currently on sabbatical from teaching sociology at a small rural state university--Eastern Oregon University.  Looking forward to learning more ways to partner with my students in realizing the amazing collaborative capacities of the web.

I am Rosemary Powers from Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon, where I teach sociology.  I am currently on sabbatical and traveling in Ireland over April and May.    I've been participating in a new course offered by The School of Open on learning to write for Wikipedia, which I would never have considered if not for the ETMOOC conversations about Open Educational Resources.  It's been a slow go with my current traveling, so I'll probably join the next course to actually complete an editing project.

I am also behind on writing for the blog I began during ETMOOC,  but just posted my reflections on the course at onepulledthread.blogspot.com.  Thank you Christina for your comment.  I really enjoyed your own final reflections on ETMOOC.  It's good to know our usual work settings are close geographically with you in BC.

My name is Rosemary Powers and I am a professor of sociology at Eastern Oregon University, a small state university in a high mountain valley with over  50% of the students attending on-line.  As one of two sociologists, I am  a generalist by necessity, exploring multiple interests with students including gender and power, families,  inequality/diversity, social movements, education, social psychology, and religion and violence.

I am currently enjoying a year-long sabbatical that allows me to investigate the potential of new technologies/social media in promoting active learning.  I'm new to many of the tools, but have been having a good time diving in.  I look forward to being part of a new community of learners.
